Map Ratings

We'd like some feedback on the maps we have running through the server. Your feedback will directly affect what maps are played and what maps are removed. In order to make sure we get regular player's feedback we're limiting this page to people who have played 20 hours or more in the last 60 days on at least 15 separate days. We do not want someone who comes in for a weekend or two skewing the results. We have a good number of FF players that meet this criteria, but you'll need a forum account to vote. Eventually this rating system will be tied into the server to allow feedback while actually playing specific maps. The rating system is currently available for Fortress Forever and TF2 maps. TFC, Hidden, and L4D servers are not yet tied into this system.

http://forums.oldtimersclan.com/scuztools_maps.php

So, rate the maps you know. If you do not have a STRONG opinion on a map, do NOT vote for or against it please. We are still working out how we'll use this information, but based on ratings we will probably automated the following items: Map Rotation (limited to high ranking maps and fill the nextmap queue) as Map Disabling (too many people hate it then it goes away automatically.)

Thank you while we work out the bugs and see how this goes.

This post and map rating system are not affiliated with the Fortress Forever Development Team.

yo fucktard, do you really expect to get people from this forum to go to your forum, register and vote? ofc not, you already stated you only want people who regularly play on o-t server. this kind of player doesn't show up in this forum(gratefully), and, if they do play on o-t and also come here, they presumably also visit your forum. so there's no reason for you to post this crap in here.

Um, immortal, stfu.

I play on OT, but do not visit his forums.

Hey, Scuzzy, if possible when ya finish the voting, mind if I get the numbers? I know it'd be helpful to see what maps are more popular.

I know it shows it on the site, but a nice spread sheet is sexier.

Actually, I play there often enough and I'm with Rice when saying I just don't register on his forum.

Maybe you should get your facts straight before acting like a complete <insert slang here>.

There are players that are not registered in our forums who play in our servers a great deal. (as you can see) Many of them are members here, which is the primary list of users that this post is meant for. The others are those players who play who may want more of a say in the maps that a server they play on has in it's rotation. We're trying to make the servers more friendly to those who support it.

BTW Ricey/Rawh, we've expanded this to allow players to vote while in the server, so you don't have to login to the forums. You would have to register (Because it uses a forum id to track), but once registered you could vote and not have to worry about logging into the forums.

As for the map list, as a registered regular player you'd be able to see that... although we are considering publicizing that information so that we can help other servers better serve their players by following the [o-t] model of map rotation and selection.

that s not that hard tbh, theres a sourcemode plugin that allows u to rate the map at the end, from 1 to 5, seen in in snt, or just install hlstatsx and in the maps tab chek what's the players prefered maps like in here
which isn't accurate 100% but gives a general idea.

That plug-in is fucking horrible. The accuracy of the plug-in is 50%, if that. I've seen it take 1-2 votes per maps, and half the time people will ignore that voting option. It has nothing with being hard, but what the accuracy of the ratings are is what matters the most. Everyone has the general idea of what players play the most, but some don't want that, they want good accurate numbers go to by.

What would be nice is to see who leaves when and on what maps.

You know.... I can probably pull that stat... hmmmmm only thing is I wouldn't be able to know if the last map ended in a "crash".

Who cares about crashes, lol.

immortal, just stfu, no one cares what you think about OT, or why they banned you. If you wanna talk shit about Scuzzy or OT, do it somewhere else, because everyone here is sick of the stupid shit.

Also, this forum does say Server Administration, right?

Here's what I'm thinking: If there are 20 people in the server, map changes, then only 10 come back, you have some semblence of turnover. However, if the map change was due to a crash, and barely anyone comes back, then it's not such a great indicator.... I'll have to see if I do track the crashing... I think I might... not sure.

Yea, that would screw with the numbers a bit, but when the server crashes it'll default to start up map, which by default is push. So you'd be able to see what happened and that it was indeed a crash and not a ragequit of everyone, lol.

No, zE, I am not just talking shit. I don't care what the high time was during the day, that's easily seeable and can be done with out a graph. Also, that graph is fucking horrible. Why don't i care about the high times? because each day will be different. Each day, different people will play on the server.

To explain it, the difference between that graph and what Scuzzy has is that Scuzzy has the total for Aardvark, which has been on the server for 165 days, and in those 165 days 64% when giving the option to vote for it, it won. It also shows how many people voted for that map, which is 1612 People(44%). Much, much more detailed then the graph.

I'm not even gonna bother explain to you why this is something that would be nice to see in a spread shit or a nicely done graph of some sorta, mainly because you'll be arrogant about it, as usual.
