Need a little help

How do you open certain files in photoshop?

If you wanted reskin the sniper how would you open it, because I can't seem to find a way

All right, first off you'll want to do some downloading.

Download this
It is called VTFEdit. It is a free program that allows you to open .VTF (Valve Texture File) files, and then export them (file>export) to a .TGA format.
You can then open the .TGA file with Photoshop, and edit it all you want.
Once you have edited it the way you want, open VTFEdit and choose File>Import.
Navigate to the directory of where the .TGA file is, and select that. Then, using VTFEdit, save it to where the original .VTF file is located, as the name of that file.

Say the file is called sniper_hat.vtf and it is located in \FortressForever\materials\models\player\sniper
Open sniper_hat.vtf with VTFEdit.
Select file, then export, and choose a folder that you wish to export the file to.
Export it to a .TGA format.
Open the .TGA file with Photoshop.
Edit the file, then save it.
Open VTFEdit, and select file, then import.
Navigate to the location of the edited .TGA file.
Choose that.
Save it to \FortressForever\materials\models\player\sniper as sniper_hat.vtf
Enjoy your stuff.

If that is not how you do it, then someone will surely tell you how, because they will probably correct me and tell me I am an idiot, or something.

there is also a plugin for photoshop that allows you to edit and save vtfs directly...

there's also a plugin for windows (if ur using windows) that allows you to see thumbnails of the vtfs..

look around the web and you'll find em easy enough

I never knew that!
Besides, I am too poor for Photoshop, and I cannot torrent it because my ISP monitors P2P downloading.
I just use Gimp.

I didn't torrent it either, I saw this video on youtube from some kid who gave a download link and surprisingly, it was virus free
