Latest SDK Update

Well, aside from wiping my FF mapping config, once I got it all set up as it was, it's giving me a new error upon opening hammer: "Can't load FileSystemOpendialog.dll", as well as a FATAL ERROR about a missing material ("editor/flatnocull") when I load a map up.

Tried the fix on the Valve wiki about the first error, didn't work. Haven't found anything on the second yet, though hopefully fixing the first will fix the second.

Anyone else getting these?

Well, after some digging around, I found the fix for this on the steam forums.

You need to add -engine ep1 to the source SDK's launch options.

But yeah, the recent update seems to be a little rough round the edges.

I forgot which forums I was on... they are valid on another forum. I likes to indent my paragraphs whens I cans!

Code:
Maybe I will write everything using the code tags
so I can properly indent my paragraphs like I want
to. Besides, the font is so old school - I love it!

what i done was set the launch option like above then i went to:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\yourname\sourcesdk\bin\ep1\b in

and replaced the gameconfig in there with the one(with FF settings) that i had copied and saved onto my desktop incase something like this happened.

Had a problem with my hammer last night, getting materialsystems.dll error when trying to compile.

If anyone runs into that, see if you set your compile options to the orangebox/bin folder instead of ep1/bin like it should be lol.

If you know a map/vmf that has the props you want, you can copy and paste them.hahahaha lol....I just did that with 3 of my props so I could move on in a map I'm working on. The props were tables and chairs and gates.

Known Bugs:
-------------------------------------------------------------

- You must add this to the launch options for the Source SDK in order to edit games that run using the Ep1 version of the Source engine:
-engine ep1
- The sourcesdk_content folder is not getting updated consistently so we suggest selecting 'Refresh SDK Content' the first time that you run the SDK.
- Some users are getting 'Unable to load FileSystemOpenDialog.dll' when running Hammer. Follow the same instructions as above to remedy this.
- Hammer 3D Ray-traced Lighting Preview performs very slowly and should be avoided until we can fix it.
- Hammer 3D Lighting Preview does not work well with some video hardware.
- When running the Orange Box versions of the 'studiomdl' and 'vtex' you should include '-nop4' on the command line to bypass our Perforce integration with these tools. We will eliminate this need in a subsequent release.
- Cubemaps cannot presently be built for maps that run in an Orange Box game.
- 'cone_helper.mdl' is missing from the Source SDK distribution and this can cause a crash in Hammer.
- The %VProject% env var is not getting dynamically set anymore when you change the mod in the SDK launcher.
- Opening Advisor.jpg in Episode Two's GCF crashes hlmv
- The Orange Box version of Hammer is rendering textures at a lower quality than the previous version

New Bugs:
-------------------------------------------------------------

The "rotation" cursor does not appear when rotating brushes/objects, making all mouse cursors invisible.
When applying a texture without detail props (like concrete) to the same face that formerly held a texture WITH detail props, the 2d detail prop sprites will still remain.

The magnifying-glass disappear when inside a 2D-view
When you select a prop to be metal_box (the weigthed cube), and select skin '1' in the model viewer, the skin does not change. Pressing OK then shows that it has the skin set as '8' ... Skin 1 is the companion cube skin.
in-Hammer model viewer crashes for some users
1 They don't have Orange box
2 They are using "-engine ep1" wich is not compatibile with in-hammer viewer
3 Building maps for games other than Half-Life Ep2 , Portal and TF2
The info_particle_system entity is a giant "ERROR" model

Temperamental Bugs:
-------------------------------------------------------------

Minimizing then maximizing Hammer breaks all 4 viewpoint windows. The 3 wireframe windows and the Camera window do not show any of the map. Can only be fixed by shutting down Hammer and restarting it.
when working with displacements, the window with paint alpha etc goes invisible, to get it back up properly you need to close and open the displacement window again.

Thanks.

Turning off the VGUI model browsers makes it stop crashing but makes finding props almost just as lame

Prolly gonna wait to work on my map still since thats the main thing I was working with (props/lights). Ill probably just rough out one of the other maps I was thinking about making or finish making a 2fort I roughed out cause I didn't want to work on my map or start anything new since I thought it would be fixed fast, though I probably wont (or it wont be really pretty or anything) cause I dont wanna spend time on remakes, unless noone makes rock2.
