I see your point mate and indeed we wouldn't have a lot of stuff to write about. unless somebody wants to create some fantasy stories about each class, but that would be too much tf2-ish.

I hope with the release of a new patch, especially 2.5, the player amount will increase again and we will have more stuff to write about.

What gameplay have to do with ranks ? U could argue that unlocks could mess with it, but it depends, you can tweak it to still be balanced and be better in some core aspects and worst in others.

I can understand zE just fine, it does take a bit longer to translate what he says instead of reading the post of a natural speaker of English. Who gives a fuck.

Multiplayer games have changed during the past 10-15 years. from Capture the Flag, Death match (still popular though), battlefield's point capture system to achievements, ranks etc. a TFC:Source probaly would not work anymore.

I don't know how difficult it is to set up achievements and a ranking system for FF. it's always been a motivation boost for me when I played BF2 for example, seeing your rank next to your name. Furthermore I would even welcome a rank system and achievements, as long as you couldn't get any other weapons. that cries out for a messed up balance. also hats are a no go.

Yeah, that's why I endorse the idea. As long as it's only a "cosmetic" thing, I'm fine with it. I am completely against "unlockables", for the same reason you state: imbalance.

however hes right with the rank thing sure you may not unlock new weapons but without a rank why do i keep playing i mean ive stopped playing because there's no reason to keep playing sure i get on from time to time but a ranking system with lvls would be pretty cool. or achievements even if they don't mean anything. the achievements that are focused on doing better at ff. this has been mentioned before but you didn't seem to act on it.

also i can understand ze fine why do people play this boring game with ze, its really sad.

also with a blog why does it have to be everyday can't it be once a month or even longer periods not even tf2 has once aday. look its part of the attitude that causes this is you don't want to do this, so you'll look for any excuse not to.

I don't think a daily update is needed at all. there ain't as much (writing) effort involved as some might think. a short summary or even explanation of the game and classes plus the usual update when something is gonna happen (patch/community or server event, etc). that's it imho.

We promised to roll out 2.42 a month ago. Not much work has been done since. We've been busy telling the public that the Engineer is being worked on, despite having last worked on it six or seven months ago. Oh, by the way, we did a whole bunch of unnecessary changes to [insert mechanic here]. Though it wasn't broken to begin with, we can only hope it won't break now. Stay tuned for the next blog post, in which we promise you more updates by next year that would be finished by a competent dev team in a few weeks.

Well I have nothing but praise for 1.0. I have many negative opinions about the current version, but here are all the positive things I can think of post-1.0:

-Pyro rocket launcher looks better now
-Dustbowl window sg bug did get fixed
-Palermo lighting did get fixed
-I like the look visually of napoli
-I like the look visually of the new ksour
-3rd cap of anticitizen can be fun
-Spawns are a bit better for cornfield and palermo
-sg tracking is better than 1.0
-sound effects are better for hunted
-waterpolo performance is better
-chrome shading on sg can look good
