Lua Scripting
I have heard that you are introducing Lua scripting to the Engine for mappers. Does this also pass to scripting for in-game scripts? Will we be able to play tetris before a round starts, for example? Will we be able to customize the user interface? Replacing ammo text with gauges? And on this topic, how customizable is everything going to be?
I can see arguments on both sides of the fence for this. I realize this may have been asked before.. I searched for Lua scripts, and I saw a lot of results, but I didn't put a lot of effort into finding my answer before posting, so bury me if I'm a broken record. |

Lua integration is gonna be limited mostly to gameplay control within maps.

Agreed. Especially for folk like me who get killed right away and have to sit for 10 minutes while boring stat shitting campers worry about dying...

I'm trying to think if its actually possible to code tetris in our LUA scripts using the new hud icons... and i'm pretty sure it actually is.
Trouble is you'd have to have a spawn in the map surrounded by triggers which respawned you and moved the icon when you touched them. I'm sure it would be possible, tho Customisable HUDs is a possibility.. no promises for first release, tho, and it would probably simply be changing the look/position of the background hud plates and the fonts, rather than having life bars and stuff. |
