Weak FPS
Usted to run FF at 60-120 fps everwhere.. now it runs at 20-40 in the yard which is unnacceptable... plus on fast movment it skippes frames.
X2 4200 2.2 ghz 2gb ddr ram 8600GTS 512mb ddr3 This is on the lowest visual settings possible with a widescreen resolution. I just did a clean install of XP, so its not spyware/viruses. This also with about 28 programs running non of which are cpu eating. |

If not, I'm thinking some component might be running too hot. I had a P1 100MHz back in the days and the CPU fan stopped working after a while. PC started running slower because of that. Might be the case with one of your components. |

Speedfan reads 3 temps that are granted the "on fire" logo.
LM75 = chip, bus= nforce2 smbus. for all 3. Is that my southbridge chip on my MB? Or north? |

No Idea but I doubt it matters much anymore, even if you change the chipset fan it will probably keep running super slow like it is. I might be wrong though, since I haven't tried changing my CPU fan when it happened to me.

Yeah, it dosent matter anymore.
I have new components coming from newegg right now. new mobo, cpu, ram, psu, and a 10000 WD raptor 150gig. I'll be up to speed soon enough. All that is left is a new case, aftermarket heatsink/fan, 9800gx2, and anotehr 2 gig stick. |

NForce2 was usually the north bridge wunnit?
I don't have any idea really but it sounds right. Yeah stuck fans are a bitch I tell ya... I had a fan fall out of my video card once, and fucker got so hot the spot that held the fan melted so I couldn't put it back in. Had to screw a new fan onto it. Never worked quite the same but it was at least functional.

I'd like to know if a chip really can slow down forever if it got really hot. Common sense would lead me to believe that when a chip runs too hot, it shouldn't be running at all after that because something fried inside but heh... anyone with tech knowledge can give some info on this?

to see if its a heat issue, leave ur computer off for an hour or so, boot up and see if ur fps is better?
other than that, you may have spyware - try adaware (free) also could be driver isue. if you're on windows vista, dont ask me. only advice i can give with driver issues would be to make sure your OS system files are updated and if the newest driver for your vid card isnt working, try an older version.(worked for me!) if all else fails, buy new shit. www.newegg.com
