Hi, i was just wondering why i can not join the #fortressforever mIRC channel. IT says cannot join channel (+r) in my mirc (server log). Is it a locked channel or is my mirc just messed up?? If anyone could help id appreciate it a lot, thanks.

You are not registered. Thats what the +r means. You need to be registered on mIRC.

This link will get you started: http://www.gamesurge.net/createaccount/

Fill out the form and then check your email for the next step.

mIRC is a client. Gamesurge is an IRC network. They are made up of IRC servers. You register with AuthServ, the registration bot, who keeps it in a database. You do not register on mIRC. mIRC is a client to connect to an IRC server.

that is all.

Dang, it's tempting to point that out sometimes. If registering your nickname is too much, join #fortressforever on Quakenet.

I used to like to pop in there sometimes, but last time I tried it said I wasn't registered, guess it purges inactive accounts after a few months or so...too much of a pain in the ass to keep registering.

I was once accused of cheating on a CS server, and the cheat detection stuff they wanted me to run used mIRC, which I didn't use as an IRC client. By the time I'd installed it, the idiot admin was ranting that I'd been deleting my cheats. Don't know why I just said that; it just came to mind.

I don't think it does. I have been inactive for several months at a time, several times and everytime I come back, I'm still able to auth. One of my inactivity periods was almost a year.
