concmap_exist possible with FF?
Hello there FF team and community. I'm a fairly old player of TFC and I have been trolling the website and forum for a while now with a question luring in the back of my mind. I appologize if this question was answered somewhere else in the forum as I did try and look for a post similar to this:
Q: I began playing TFC around when it first started and I still do here and there. I have done everything possible in the game I would say; from turning 2fort.bsp into a real conc map without VHE, playing elite clan matches on all sorts of maps, to creating a whole escape series with a friend about four .bsps large and keeping it secret. I have done all these things but I have favored only one of them: Concing. This was an addiction throughout my years of highschool and I would say I got fairly good at it. To get to the point, my question is whether concmap_exist, completely redone in FF, would be possible? The reason why I choose concmap_exist as an example is because it's the most familiar, in my opinion, to the TFC communitiy, and it holds a somewhat difficult challenge. From what i've seen, through all the videos and screenshots, concing in FF has come very close to what TFC had, and I hope it gets the attention it needs. I, as well as many others, would love to help create the whole concing/rocketjumping/custom aspect to FF and boost the popularity of the mod to which it so much deserves. Again, I appologize if this question was answered somewhere else and I thank every single one of you, both forum trolls and FF staff, for keeping this incredible dream alive. |

Yeah it's possible but it probably wont' be offically done, someone in the community would have to make it. I believe they said they've remade concmap_r for developing the concs though.

I *think* that concing will be just as powerful as before (roughly) and you will be able to do most of that funky concing stuff. Hell, with some imagination mappers could probably make some sweet shit with the LUA thing.

make it...it'll work...i wont say anything about the conc as i dont know what exactly has been released about it...keep the conc maps close to TFC's and it should work.... that is all....

I was on the dev concmap a night or two ago. It had all of the standard jumps you would expect on concmaps... single up, double up, single across, double across, up and in the hole, triple up, etc. Everything was pretty beautiful.
I will tell you right now, though, that as everyone has said here it is different than it is in TFC. You will not just plunk down a conc and fly through the air beautifully (like a goose). You will need a little bit of time to adjust to the slightly different mechanics.

Concmap was just knocked up so we could check that everything worked ok. It won't be in the release.
As for concing, mirv actually systematically reconstructed the exact conc strength & push algorithm from TFC by using a server plugin for TFC. For all intents and purposes, concing is identical in FF. So now you know |

I've been telling you guys for months that concing is almost identical. Except that its harder to fuck up and you've got visual timers to aid in the multi-conc jumps.
Port your favorite maps and they'll work at release. |

Are there gonna be any official conc maps in the first release?
Or is it totally up to the community as far as the first release goes? I love doing conc maps in TFC, and would love to give some new ones a shot in FF. |

I hope a official concmap is released but then again I can tell you if they don't there will be enough concmaps coming out. At this very moment I've taught several people to map for TFC the majority knockin' up a concmap, to learn the basics really, I assume if its still basic-ish to map, concmaps will be used as a steppin' stone by some :P. I just need to say.. wen ff wil outs.

Non-vertical doubleconcing is (or seems) harder in FF, but with adjustment it can be done very consistently.

I'm extremely glad to hear that concing will be almost identical to that of original TFC. I have gained the passion to once again map and I will be converting old favorite concmaps and create new ones once the game files are released (basically when the game is finished). Hell, i might even be able to convince the old mapper legends to come out from their grave and start once again. Thanks for the info!
