What is the max player slots officially???

I am in the process of getting a server and wanted to double check. I ordered a 24 man, but they say now, the limit is 22. What is the official word?

It's hard coded at 22 right now. This will be adjusted (upwards) once we optimise the server a bit more.

what would happened if someone raised there server to 24? would it even work?

you could set it at 64 its still going to only load 22 slots

so if i set it to 28, when you up the players to the max you pick, it will just do it for me?

If you set it to 28, it's still gonna only have 22.

Are linux servers limited to 16? I'm trying to convince my host to give me 22 slots, and someone in their forums made a comment about only windows servers supporting 22.

yep, just stick maxplayers 28 in ur config and if/when server is realeased with official support for more than 22, it will automatically up. ie if u use 32 now, it will be 22 (wont default to something lower)

... again, if you try and set it to > 22, it will be clamped to 22. 24 has the same performance as 22. 1072365 has the same performance as 22. It's just exactly the same as with the normal limit -- you can't have a 128 player TFC server, can you? Same thing -- it gets clamped if you try to go above the hard-coded limit.

does anyone know if the the max players limit is going to be tweaked in the upcoming patch? Or is there much optimizing to do to perhaps see it as a release when FF becomes version 2, instead of a 1.x?
