I've noticed that using a joystick to fly the jet helps me, but I can fly a helicopter much better with a mouse. Go figure I still have no idea how some players manage to stay alive the entire round in a jet. Sure the AA missles blow, but I don't think I could ever fly around for an hour without screwing up.

heli flying with a mouse is a piece of piss. its near enough impossible with a jet though, i cant pull back fast enough, and i keep having to pick the mouse up and drop it back up the top when im turning or doing a loop. much easier for the people that play flight sims too im guessing

I wouldn't even try and fly the jet with the mouse, but you can obviously adjust the sensitivity for different vehicles. I use the cursor keys when I fly the jet, badly... I normally just fly the things to the other end of the map behind the enemy runway, bail out (over unoccupied tank if possible :P) and then create havoc.

hahahaha, just borrowed my bro's account who has the M95 sniper rifle. camped out the enemy helipad, and sniped out the pilot and gunner from a safe distance each time they tried taking off.
makes up for a lot of stress built up around heli gunships |

Back on topic. I really liek yelling "CLEAR!" before I paddle some unsuspecting enemy camper. It usually scares the shit out of them. |

The demo was interesting and if I wasn't strapped for cash I would make a purchase. However, the server browser was terrible. It could not possibly be worse. That and the pings were mostly awful with a few exceptions...You would think I could just use a server browser to find a good server.

what kind of system do you need to play this on medium to low settings? I don't care what it looks like as long as I can play it..
and I couldn't find ANYONE on Xfire, dunno if its just me but you guys can look me up I guess... "Tennovan" or "[r]evolution" I can't remember. |

I'm not asking for system requirements. I'm asking what you would need REALISTICALLY to play this game pretty well. Consider playing HL2 with basic system requirements and then get back to me on that one.
So again, thanks for the incredibly thoughtless post but I'm looking for someone who can give insight as to whether it will ever be playable on my system. So for those with systems above the basic requirements but not quite badass either, feel free to post something more intelligent than "OMG GOOGLE". EDIT: Sorry if this post sounded rude but yours did not imply a nicer tone either. I just hate smartass replies. Again, sorry if it sounded out of line. |

Not at all! You actually brought a smile to my face. A good rule of thumb is: If you can safely play Half-Life 2, on whatever settings, you can play Battlefield 2 on the same. But: You still haven't posted/linked to your system specs, so yeah... we can tell you that it will run, but not with any amount of certainty. |

Graphics-wise, you can get away with a fairly good vid card, and you don't need a super-fast processor either. But, I would suggest not using onboard audio (they often have crackling problems in BF2), and also getting at least 1 gig of ram. BF2 has tons of assets, and the sound load tends to overwelm crappy sound cards, and not having enough ram will lead to significant stuttering.

you should be ok in BF2 with that spec in about 1024x780 with everything on low, draw distance on max. gfx card is biggest stumbling block, a 6600GT would be a huge improvement. I'm making do with 512mb RAM with it, but loading times are a bit of a fucker

well my roommate wants to buy my vid card and im looking to get a slight upgrade anyways...
EDIT: So that's two diff opinions, one says more ram, the other says better gfx card... opinions? |
