Spinning alarm light
Question for other mappers:
How do you make the spinning alarm light? You know the one - where the light 'beam' appears to rotate around the light... I thought you just dropped 2 'block light' textured 'func_rotating' entities on either side of a 'light' entity and let it go to town, but it ain't working. Advice? Holding-my-hand walkthrough? diagrams? anyone? Oh, and how do you have a glow which you can turn off/on? an env_sprite? Thanks gang. |

Good find. Hopefully that helps you now Imbrifer . And yes, an env_sprite should do the job.

So, are these rotating lights considered dynamic? If so, wont there be a performance hit?

Considered dynamic lights? Yes, but then again, every mapper knows to check the box for "no dynamic light" .

But if they are dynamic ie. moving, checking 'No dynamic light' wont exactly help the matter... Or do I have the wrong idea here?

Do it the TFC way...take 2 brushes in the shape of a light 'beam', put an origin brush in teh middle, slap a fade texture on them, make them non-solid and BAM!

Why post the same link twice especially when Imbrifier already stated he has used the tutorial? :P

I am aware of this and I shall now rephrase my last post.
Why post the same link twice while stating in both messages about how the link was in another thread... |
