We should shoot for when schools let out. Play with people just getting home, and hopefully have a decent crowd by the time 9-5ers come on.

9-5ers and students would be a great starting point.

I'm sure this has been done 100,000+ times before I even arrived in these parts, but have there been efforts to bring in some of the remaining TFC community?

HeyheyheyHEY now there were a lot of us in a pub really late last night...

Waiting for all the night owls. Everyone knows true gamers log on in the middle of the night anyway.

Unless you work night shift all weekend lol

But ya, I'll see if I can find room for FF this week . Between Tera and D3, I am completely absent from my FF buddies.

Dammit, Diablo 3... every other game is going to die for at least a week.

Hell, chances are my school will be all but abandoned for a day or two.

I know that I and several other west coast pub players would probably join if there was anyone playing on a pub server after 8 pm. As it is now the pub game is pretty dead after that, but IRC has a bunch of people waiting for a pickup to start. Why not pub in the meantime? More people playing = more new players staying.

Never understood that either, AS. But since some folks refuse to even 3v3, they'll refuse to pub.

reality is right now i think pubs need organization i think there are plenty of people willing to play a game. (even if there could be alot more... ) i think using the steam group to update when people are playing the game, is a good way. also there's the email system, teamspeak, mumble, etc...

its really a challenge of getting them all on 1 server at 1 time.

given how often the servers are going down, there should be spurts of activity here and there

Don't you get a notification whenever a group that you're in posts an event?

That might trigger some former FF'ers who are still part of the group to hop back in if events were constantly posted.

A good example is Odamex, a major Doom multiplayer client that was just released and is gaining popularity in IDL and such very rapidly. They have weekly events such as CTF, TDM, etc. every Saturday night, and they're really popular.

We could do stuff like that here, maybe...

I attempted that a few months ago with my steam group, but it never caught on (It would only bring 1-3 players)...

http://www.steamcommunity.com/groups/PopulateFF

It's mostly used for pickup notifications now :S

Ah, gotcha.

It would be nice if some of the more active/experienced players could be given the rights to post events to the main group for certain servers.

I've been here since release, and i doubt they would even attempt to give me those kinds of rights, even despite how much time I've spent teaching newbies new things in pubs.

That's just how things work around here. It's as though people shut me down before they even give me the chance (which is low.)

C'mon dude, theres really no reason to be so melodramatic: this has just been brought up and already youre saying the man is gonna shut ya down.
Anyway, who all has been here since release (and is still here)?
I was certainly around even before that, thanks to o-t, for leading me here in the first place
When i first loaded the page i remember seeing the new scout model and conc grenade model in a media release, and this was after a few years of tfc. I was outright amazed and excited for this game. Push was the first map we played, its a shame it doesnt get played anymore though.
Cant believe its almost been 5 years lol
