FEAR 2 Demo is out.

I just got done playing it. I've only played the FEAR 1 demo, but this seemed really fun. The only gripe I have is with the health system; there's too much of an emphasis on armor in this game. If you run out of armor, it only takes about three or so hits to kill you in Normal mode. One of the standard grunts managed to take off about 1/2 of my HP with one shot, which I thought was ridiculous.

The mech portion wasn't as bad as I expected. The missiles do major damage to the weaker mechs you see and makes them vulnerable to bullets, which I thought was a neat mechanic. I think the standard grunts can actually do damage to your mech, which is a nice deviation from the usual "The only thing that can hurt you is big explosions" you usually see in mech portions of games. Hopefully the mech portions won't be too long, ala the ones in Quake 4.

The scary portions weren't that scary. I would've liked it if each "scary" section didn't end after you passed an invisible line. The first "scary" moment in the school was cool until you realized that all you needed to do was keep going forward and occasionally shoot a ghost that pops up. There was no need to stay behind and fight back, since the ghosts did very little damage.

I liked the PDA. I'm a sucker for background story, and reading up on your weapons and the occasional log file was interesting. Hopefully they'll expand on this in the final version.

eh, i think im alright with the health. Ive been playing it on hard and its about 2 hits to die but thats the way ive always liked it. Its always had a emphasis on health, and as you said that was on normal so i would say give easy a try then. Its better than when the had regen health in it for the two months or so and changed it back

anyways, it played great. It will definitely be a purchase for me

The health system isn't that much of a problem; I'm sure I'll get used to it in the final version.

I'll prob wait until the price goes down to around $30. My rule is that unless a FPS has stellar multiplayer, its usually not worth $50.

Game've kinda degenerated from first part in terms of A.I. Sometimes bots stop shooting when I was near them, they forgot how to flank effieciently. Smells like console FPS...

What, the dummied down HUD, lack of quicksave, and overly large text wasn't enough proof for you? :P

Is there any reason not to use the standard Frag Grenade?

yea, blame the consoles for having them rebuild the AI so it would be better than the first....oh wait....

the electric one shocks the mechs i think, so it gives you a bit of time to unload on them

Ok, at least I know that Consoles are to blame for tutorial levels? For having to press buttons to open doors and healing?

I didnt actually see any enemies glowing, nor did i have a hard time seeing them.
