The anime? I saw it.

Completely on topic but away from Beck, I remember in the NANA anime there was a short clip where Nana kicked Nobu in the face because he insulted her cooking. I wanted to show my buddy that scene, but I forget where it is. Anyone remember what episode that was offhand?

FLCL and Cowboy Bebop were probably the only two Animes that I really enjoyed.

...And I might have had a Guilty Soft spot for Big O here and there.

I've been thoroughly enjoying 00 Gundam. Season 2 started about three months ago and it just passed the halfway point.

It's leaving out a lot of the Gundam staples that really sucked (so far), like people who you assume to be dead aren't really dead. Any Gundam fan would probably agree that Gundam SEED was good until Gundam SEED Destiny retconned a whole bunch of shit (fucked with relationships, resurrected characters).

I especially like the direction they are taking with their music. Go go YouTube power!

The only animes I actually tolerated was Cowboy Bebop, Trigun (sucks that there was only what like 14 episodes, that shit was funny. I even have a dvd), and a little big of Big-O.

I just finished with Evangelion, my brain further decays from the psychological aspects of the show. XD

You ever watch like... Spanish channels, and the dub the Spanish voices over the English ones for movies? Kinda cheesy, right?

Anime dubs are about ten times worse. Most of the actors aren't that talented and are bought as cheaply as possible.

Hit up Crunchyroll where you can catch some animes in the original, sweet language with subs. There's a noticeable difference in voice acting.

When I was younger I didn't understand all the fuss about subtitled movies... but after all this anime (plus stuff like John Woo films, kung fu films, etc.) I can see why. The translated voice acting is often crap.

Yea, I'm a bit pissed that SEED Destiny changed so much from SEED's original story, but at the same time I actually enjoyed SEED Destiny. I still prefer SEED over SEED Destiny, but it's not enough for me to warrant not liking it.

The things that really pissed me off in SEED Destiny were:
-Athrun leaving Cagalli & being a dumbass with ZAFT.
-Kira being a douche when dealing with the situation for Orb.
-Shinn's arrogance and complete contempt for anything to do with Orb.
-Yuna Roma Seiran being a complete and total idiot throughout.
-Characters from SEED were placed in the background for new characters.

Overall though, I have to say that Gundam SEED is my favorite of all the Gundam series i've seen thus far, with Wing coming in second. I haven't seen 00 yet, so I can't rate that one...

I couldn't get into it. Not sure why, especially since I love SEED and it's a remake of 0079. I liked the other Universal Century series of 0080, 0083, The 08th M.S. Team, & Char's Counterattack - but not 0079...

Dubbed American releases are often heavily censored. For example, the original Pocket Monsters is NOTHING like Pokemon, the US dubbed release. Same for Bishojo Senshi Sera Mun (released as Sailor Moon). Example:

That's just a very small example. Often entire plot points are removed, character biographies and behaviors are changed, et cetera.

Plus, the voice acting almost always sucks. There are only a few good dubs, among them is Excel Saga. After watching all 51 episodes of FMA subbed by Anbu-Keep & Spoon, I couldn't stand to watch the US TV version. The voices don't match the characters at all, and the voice acting is fucking terrible. The actors sound like they're just reading the scripts for the first time and don't even know the character.

You're missing a lot if you watch dubbed anime, but if that's your thing, go ahead. By doing so, you pretty much give up the ability to make any comments in regards to the series when you start talking about it.

Ashin: Have you watched a properly subbed release of Naruto? It's so censored it's hilarious.

I've seen the subbed versions of Naruto, and even without all the censoring, it's just a series that I couldn't get into for various reasons.

The plot just didn't catch my interest, and I gave it about 10 episodes to try and change my mind... it didn't live up to the hype in my opinion.

The animation was alright, I've seen smoother animated works, and I've seen very rough animated works too, so it was pretty 'meh' for me in the animation department.

The characters we're a bit annoying too, especially Naruto himself, too annoying and over-the-top with his behavior personally - not quite Excel Saga's levels, but just too much for me when it comes to an anime that tries to be serious at some level of semblance...

Maybe I'll give it another chance in the future and have a change of heart, maybe not... I dunno, but I do know that at this point in time, I highly dislike the series to the point of loathing...
