Logitech G500 - New Gamer Mouse
So after 2 years, my Logitech G5 has hit the end of it's days. The scroll wheel is all jacked up which gives me issues when tilt-clicking and mid-clicking. After a little research, I found that Logitech offers a THREE YEAR warranty on all their Mice... which is totally amazing. After finally getting to the right person on the phone I got just the nicest women on the phone who easily got me set up to get a replacement mouse.
However, Logitech not only discontinues the G5, they completely emptied out their warehouse of them. So instead of the G5, they will be shipping me a brand new G500. While this is probably good news, I'm a little worried about it. Since the G500 was JUST released, there aren't any true reviews of the mouse. While I'm sure they didn't messed it up too badly, one thing I really liked about the G5 was that it was more casual then the hard-core gamer mice. We'll see how this works |

I've read the few minor reviews I could find and there hasn't been anything really bad said about it. They say the lazer is very fast but doesn't matter much. One said that the MS sidewinder mouse offers more buttons or something.
I less worried about "that mouse is better!" and more worried about actual issues. Also, being without my main mouse for a week is going to suck. I've got to choose between my wireless Logitech laptop mouse or a random wired Dell mouse... |

Looks good, except for the scroll wheel.

This is one thing I really think Logitech excels at. They make good gaming mouses (headphones on the other hand). I've had my Mx518 for about 4 years now and it still works great. =D
Good luck with the new mouse. Last edited by Backstaber; 09-19-2009 at 06:10 AM. |

I just got my G500 in! It uses the game drivers and works wonderfully so far. No gaming, just some minor tweaks. I think I also have it weighted nicely, but that always takes some tweaking. The thumb rest is technically larger but it's nothing that noticeable. I like the idea of an extra mouse button when gaming. The scroll wheel is different. It's not necessarily bad, but it's very different. It took a while to get used to the G5 so I'm assuming it will be the same getting used to the G500.
