Only get hl2.exe crash playing FF

Playing FF I get the windows hl2.exe error - I've reinstalled my drivers, turned off the steam community option, lowered all the video in-game settings, cleared my Temp folder in Windows and I still get this error halfway through any given [FF] map that I am playing -

Any suggestions?

Maybe you have some other programs conflicting with FF?

Do you have any other HL2 Mods installed? This particular hl2.exe is located in the Source SDK Base folder This is the hl2.exe file that FF uses. Search your Steam folder for other occurrences of hl2.exe.
HL2 + other Valve games will be using a different one to the Source SDK Base hl2.exe file.

A possible update to the Source SDK Base engine could be the reason behind all these crashes. Some info about such things are in the Steam forums themselves.

I guess what I;m trying to say is I don't think it's a fault with FF, rather an issue with Valve's latest update

Hidden-Source is also a Mod, that probably relys on the Source SDK Base hl2.exe file

I get the same exact thing. It's good to know that I am not the only one.

same here, look on the 3rd page of this thread: http://www.fortress-forever.com/foru...ad.php?t=10679 for my full post about it (and my mdmp file for those who need it)

I do have INS mod installed but I haven't played it in months and I already deleted my source sdk base folder and re-ran it again before I played FF so that isnt it.

richard, since you posted your mdmp it will get looked at. (And I checked it's not the 500kb studiorender.dll mystery crash)

All I can say is hold on and it will get fixed, the reason why you aren't seeing the devs post on the forums right now is because they are spending all their time fixing things. They have some of the testers filtering problems through to them.

I also get this error, and I believe it may be an issue with the hl2.exe and not FF, as other mods in the past have had similar issues as well.

The only advice that I can give (because it works for me almost every time)

is to uninstall source sdk
then delete the source sdk + source mod folder
and reinstall

well if FF crashes, no matter what the error will be with HL2 since it uses the source engine. Same thing with the other source mods. I keep having a bizarre problem with lockups in-game and I always get an error message saying HL2 messed up somehow. But I think that's just because FF uses the HL2 engine platform. I don't think it's because there's issues with the engine because the engine is reliable. It's the FF coding specifics that can conflict. Not the engine itself.

Of coarse there are other factors like videocards and all that. Alot of people lately been having issues, for example, because ATI updated the drivers for their cards. So everyone kept having issues in-game because they hadn't updated it yet. It happened to me too. I even looked at my mdmp files and for some reason they showed me as having a geforce 440 instead of an ATI express 200 series. After I updated I had no problem connecting to a server. I'm having a seperate issue now. Unrelated to the vidcard..Still havne't figured it out. It has something to do with the sound though. I capped CP1 on dustbowl today and the chick's voice looped forever. Everything froze and became non-responsive. Had to unplug the power cable and do a clean boot just to be able to do anything.
