help with source SDK/hammer
dunno where to be posted, move if nesscarry. thanks.
so i got this science project, and i gotta made stuff outta paper-mache or something simliar. well, my creations looks like a huge gray blob most of the time. so i asked my teacher if i could make it on the computer. i asked her if i should either make a level (map) with Hammer (didnt matter, she didnt know what Hammer or Maya was) or just make a model with Maya. i explained both in English. she said it would be cool if you could make something you could walk around it, so naturally, i chose Hammer. Hammer is prolly easier anyways. anywho, i have no idea how to make something in Hammer. She said i should just make a small sample level (which prolly means untextured, etc, etc) by the end of the week. BTW, the thing im making with Hammer is the Jupiter moon Titan. anyways, i dont have an idea of a sample level, but w/e. ill just make a small puzzle or something lol. anyways, i got to make the level in about 4 weeks. i was thinking of making triggers, and other things, too, such as displaying facts as text on the screen, and while displaying it in the level itself, visually. now, i obvisly need help right about now. i gotta work on the sample level first, if anybody got ideas, then ill move onto Titan. (or is it Tritan, lol?) so, the bottom line is i basically need help making 2 maps, one rather small, using basic textures, etc. and the other not neccessarily using complex textures but something less simple, per se. so, could some of you help me out, and by help, i dont mean make the things for me, but either working together, or teaching me how to use Hammer. Thank you guys very very much, if you help me |

Belongs in the Mapping forum; not that hard to see is it?
Secondly, it's not so much help with the SDK or Hammer, but the fact that you just need to learn the basics of map making. Hammer is pretty much already set up for you and all you've gotta do is use it. You'll find more help in the mapping forum and all over the 'nets at other HL2 mapping sites... |
