FF keeps crashing when audio starts looping
I've been trying to play FF all night but whenever I join a server eventually I freeze and the audio starts looping to whatever was going on at that moment and then the game closes after like 20 seconds. It seems to happen randomly. Sometimes i can play for 10 minutes, sometimes 3 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes. Any suggestions? I brought all my settings to low and even my sound quality to low. The resolution I'm running is 800x600

Does it happen on any other Source games/mods?

Yup I have this problem too, and ESPECIALLY with ff_hunted.
I just can't play that map, my computer won't let me. It just jams ALL THE TIME. Although I get this problem, mine doesn't goto desktop. My whole computer jams and I have to force restart. |

One method you can try as a workaround for this is running the game in windowed mode. Yes it's strange, but it seems to help some people.
You could also try increasing your heapsize. (Who knows, it might help) Also, if you are getting a crash like this can you please check your \source sdk base\ folder and post any .mdump files that were made around the time of your crash. It will help the devs track down what is causing it. |

I have the same problem as Hellraz0r...loops the audio, freezes the video, and locks my computer so the only option I have is to hit the restart button. Ctrl + Alt + Delete doesn't work.
It was really bad on cornfield. Aardvark has been fine so far. I'm running 1gb of ram...I might upgrade to 2gb and see if that helps. I'm also going to try running at a lower resolution...but my video card is fairly decent and runs other steam games fine, so I donno if that is the problem. |

I've experienced this on every map i've played so far, usually after 1 to 2 minutes. It just locks up with the sound looping, and the only thing I can do is press the reset button.
I'm doing some more investigating to see if I can track down the issue. Also I can't find any .mdump files in my source SDK base folder. |

same problem. if you dont want to spend the time restarting, i just hit alt+F4 as soon as it freezes and it spares me the trouble of hitting the reset button and rebooting entirely.

Try turning your audio quality to medium.
From this thread: http://www.fortress-forever.com/foru...ad.php?t=10779 It has worked so far. Last edited by Glider; 09-14-2007 at 06:29 PM. |
