intro to avi, looks good?


For some reason the sound fucked up totally in the transfer and is not in its apropriate timeline, but just take my word that the images match the music well really. I really want the opinion of people who just started the game, not so much from oldskoolers,

If this continues the way it is going, meaning having a flow of things like it is a real game being played, this video will be my favorite FF video so far.

I know it's just a draft a perhaps it was just a fook up?, but it was better when that "clap sound" on that track came in when we see the rockets like the other teaser you posted.

When this video is completed, along with the training mode for the game, I think FF will be quite more user-friendly, or rather "newcomer-friendly" if you will.
Which is a good thing.

I uploaded a newer version containing all of the intro. Again the sound is fucked on youtube for whatever reason, probably cause im lazy and using wmv atm

Anyhow as you probably understand, the "blast" in the end is supposed to come along with the image.

Main objectives seem kind of vague or incorrect. Main job of engineer is defense plain and simple. Maybe instead of making building and repairing SG the main objective, you should list that like you did with the scout for his jump pad.

yeah true, problem is that there's limited time, in particular with the spy. But yeah guess I'll have to squeeze it all in somehow

It's looking really nice Mikael!

but, yeah I kinda agree with Kube, like I don't think the HW's "main goal" is to kill things anymore than is the solly or demo.

I would suggest doing something more like:

Scout:
Offensive Class
Speed: Very High
Health: Low
Armour: Low
Power: Low
With the fastest speed and lightest armor of all the classes in Fortress Forever, the Scout specializes in avoiding combat and producing as much flag movement as possible.

* Then I would show the conc jump and the jump pad

You can get the class specs here(click).

And for the description, the one above is the #ff_help_scout text, but not all of those are accurate and/or work right IMO. I would just say try to be less opinionated in your description and try to leave some room for interpretation but set up guidelines for playing the class.

So instead of like "Soldier is for protecting the flagroom entrance," you could say "With his RPG and Super Shotgun, the soldier is great when used as a front line defender, to guard a key choke point or entrance."

For the HW, the ff_help_class works so "With the incredible power of the assault cannon, the Heavy Weapons Guy can often prove to be the greatest defensive class for many positions in which enemies are approaching from afar." rather than "kills stuff."

Yeah I agree Mikael. Short and sweet. To the point, but enough to make it interesting. Use lingo that the every day gamer will understand. Use Rocket Launcher instead of RPG, or Wrench instead of Spanner.

How bout this:

Engineer
Class: Defense
Special Abilities:
- Build and Repair Sentry Gun and Dispenser
- Repair a teammate's armour with wrench

Demoman
Class: Defense
Special Abilities:
- Laying pipebombs to protect flag
- Setting Detpack to destroy anything in it's path

Heavy Weapons Guy
Class: Defense
Special Ability:
- Chain Gun to mow down enemy forces
- Mirv grenades - clusters of death

Sniper
Class: Useless(jk), Defense
Special Ability:
- Shooting enemy with sniper rifle adds radio tag
to assist your team's defense

Spy
Class: Offense/Defense
Special Abilities:
- Smart Cloak and ability to disguise as a friend or foe.
- Ability to sabotage Sentry Guns and Dispensers.

Etc.

thing is kube, I want to keep it as simple as possible. For one, "offense class" doesn't say much about the role a scout has in tfc. That's why I went with "main goal: get the enemy flag". Some people have never even played ctf maps, and this is really sposed to be for anyone... We already have ryu's avi for pro-gamers.

If im not doing the class thing with everyone, im not doing it with just the defensive classes. Also the detpack doesnt come into play, so thats one the newbs will have to find out for themselves

Ill do some changes however, but not exactly the ones suggested here
