Server Op Mailing List
Hi.
I was wondering whether there was a server op mailing list. I am keen to run an Australian FF server when it comes available. More to the point, when FF becomes available I would like to be the first in Australia to host it. But I am not inclined to revisit this website on the off chance something has developed. A non-spammy mailing list would be ideal for not only me, but other server ops whose only interest in this mod is hosting it. Is there a mailing list somewhere? Or is one in the works? |

Just revisit you lazy bum! At least watch for updates on other sites, such as halflife2.net or even ozfortress.com (appropriate since you're australian).

It would defeat the purpose to wait for ozfortress to announce a release and the inevitable ip's of the FF servers, yes?

I'm pretty sure a release-date for FF will be announced well in time for you to be there the moment it's released. Just check the webby each 2-3 weeks, shouldn't be too much of a burden.

Or you can poke FriedBunny until he puts up an RSS feed for the site. :P

An rss feed would be a great option for me personally, as i run feed-demon every day.
But I think you will find that many server ops live by the almighty mailing list. We don't surf the web looking for CS, NS, HLDS, or Q3 updates. We instead wait for the emails telling us it's time to patch the servers. The only other realistic option is to wait for gamers to complain that the server has fallen out of date, and that isn't the preferable option. I'd rather not wait for the other gaming communities to scoop me. I'd like to have a heads up when FF is nearing a release, even if it's beta. I don't have time to chase up the latest goss or constantly keep revisiting a bookmark to see if something has happened. Particularly when devs have a habit of friday night releases, which equates to a saturday afternoon release in Aus. |

Yep there will certainly be these upgrades online as soon as we are near release/beta stage.

I wouldn't worry yet adam, there is still a LOT of time till a public release of FF comes out. I will be here till the end, but no one is saying that it's coming out soon. I'm guessing a good 6 months atleast but it's anyone's guess right now.
... Besides Green, he doesn't get a guess BC he has been spending all his time posting in here instead. :P |

I was just wondering if there will be some type of mailing list as well. I don't check the site as much as I used to, and I fear that "something" might happen during the time I don't check it.
Is there or can there be a mailing list that the FF users can sign up for, possibly for updates/releases? |
