Which makes me laugh at all those shows about super secret weapons... if they were secret, you wouldn't know that they exist. My father worked for ASIO, I know these things.

As far as offering up an inside scoop, there really isnt much to tell. The closest we have come to discussing release time is ideas of what we prefer for launching the game. I think we can take a lesson from Insergency and make sure that the date we pick is one that has pleanty of buffer between last minute coding and the first download.

As you all may know, (especially if you frequent the forums) xen has not even been started yet. Or has it? (smirk) I dont know about you guys, but that tells me it is far from being finished. Then again, we DO have some talented folks, and it is quite possible that finishing that map would only take a few weeks or so. On the flip side, the voice acting team is working up a storm pumping out recordings like a whirlwind. So.... in the end, who knows for sure where it is at. No one. I doubt even the leads know for sure. It is too hard to decipher.

One mapper could be all done with his stuff and could be sitting around for months saying "yep, I am 100% finished", till 3 weeks from due date, someone notices a leak or major error, and the poor guy has to start from the scratch. How do you judge that? is it now back to 0%? Not really, cuz the other guys may be at 70%. See the problem. Can you imagine the mutany if percentages were posted and fluctuated like that?

No no.... the basic answer of "you will know it is done when you are downloading it" should stick.

Edit: and like zSilver Fox said, regardless of the fact that it took two years of waiting before finally getting accepted to the team as voice actor, if I were to divulge anything that is not already common knowledge, I would be kicked to the curb and fired faster than you can say "Their waiting for you gordon.... in the test chamber"

Hey Cats, on the release thing? Yeah. Easy way to do it.

Code the game. Game done? Announce the release a week later and sit on your ass. Use the time to double (triple?) check the code, and have it up and out on time by the freakin' minute.
