the pic is cool and all, but the "broken" ends of the wall. just doesnt seem right.

very hl1.
the texture is of cinder blocks, yet irl. cinder blocks would never break ina semi smooth ) pattern. it would be staircase like breaking at the molding of the block, not removing all the block and leaving just a tidbit, but looking all clean.

just a thought.

Yeah, we know. That's the same brushwork from way back when we ported over TFC's hunted. Most of the ruins shit will probably be turned into props, and we'll probably go through and add some shit to the broken ends so that it's not as blocky, but that kinda shit isn't important right now.

You... need to not over analyze.. a leak, and have some faith god damn it.

Anyone who didn't get it needs help. That said, it wasn't worth responding to.

trepid_jesse If y'all don't like going to all the trouble of making models and putting them in, just cap the ruins off with displacement surfaces (that are parallel to the 'rocky face' (see red lines below). Then make 'em arch out in the center and make 'em all rocky. You can even make a blend texture between a rubble texture and your yellow-and-grey wall texture there, and paint alpha that shiat so its real pretty and realistic. Then make some girders and crap poking out and you got whats almost better than any smelly model

Yeah, we've thought about doing that, too, Imbrifier.

It just eats up a lot of displacements. That alone would be 11 displacements, assuming there was one on every face, and then if you go through the trouble of doing it to those edges, it'll make edges you don't do like that look comparatively worse. Soooo, then you have worry if it's worth it or not to do that to all the faces. That... could turn into 100+ displacements pretty fuckin' fast, and with a 2048 displacement limit, it seems like a waste. Props will probably be the way we go in the end, if there's time.

We is be well aware of the blocky edges and alternatives to remedy the shittyness.

Y'all focusin' on all the wrong damn things.

There's a VIP down there, and he's having to rethink his life.

Douglas Adams my dear boy. Go pick up a book you loser!

I always have the temptation to post "42" as the answer to a lot of things but restrain myself simply because I don't want people asking me about it (read: 651ett).
