What is your browser?

I am in the throws of updating my website right now, but I need to know what browser folks normally use and what screen resolution you use.

So far, I have flash in it and some interesting dropdown menus that are on the site, but I just looked at it with firefox and find that the menues are painfully slow and the flash doesnt show up at all. I really dont want to have to scrap the whole thing and start over again, so I thought I would come in here and ask what the typical user uses for a browser and what screen resolution you use.

From there I will try to figure out how best to accomodate the more popular browser/resolution.

I typically use Firefox or Seamonkey depending on which OS I am on. IE is only used when I absolutely have to due to how the site is coded.

edit: 1024 x 768

Firefox 1.5.0.7 (Most up-to-date stable)
I run at 1024 x 768 since that's max rez on this laptop.

The general rules for websites:
- Works with IE & Firefox
- Viewable at 1024 x 768
- Fast loading speads for normal content
- Make sure that you chose collors that PEOPLE CAN READ!

If you've got problems people saying Firefox won't load flash and the like, they could be simply missing plugins. I use a java-based drop down menu on a site, works fine with Firefox, better than with IE actually, much faster.

Sites with resolution "requirements" drive me insane.

Firefox, 1280x1024.

Ok, so then there is hope for me yet. Do me a favor and go look at my site and tell me how those dropdown menus behave as well as the flash that is directly under them. http://www.catzeyes93.com In IE, it is beautiful and works great. In Mozilla FireFox on tester computer here in my office, the flash didnt show and I had to install stuff. Now I see the flash ok, but the dropdown menues are painfully slow and even after they come up, you are missing the part that is over the flash.

How frustrating.

At least I think I am ok with the different resolutions. =-\

Yeah, slow to load and placement is most likely not what you intended...

It looked about the same for me on both IE and FireFox. I use FireFox but also have the handy dandy "View in IE Tab" plugin for it. It loads IE inside of FireFox.

The only major difference I saw was the music player doesn't load in FireFox. If you wanted it to play in both you could use flash to embed the music or upload it to YouTube and use that code or something. There isn't any basic HTML that will work with both of them as far as I know. They both handle it alot differently.
