Help me pick an arcade stick!
Alright, for Christmas, I was planning on asking for a fight stick for my Xbox 360.
I have it down to two choices: MADCATZ Street Fighter IV – Round 2 Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition or http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Real-Arcade-Pro-EX-SE/dp/B002FKYPU4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1260655917&sr=8-2#productPromotions Both use real arcade parts. The TE, however, uses Sanwa parts, while the HRAP uses Seimitsu parts. Personally, I think I would prefer the TE, as it looks sturdier (not to mention way cooler) but when I showed my parents, they asked me if I really wanted a $130 game controller for Christmas, so I was wondering if the Hori stick would be a cheaper alternative.

Apparently unless you intend to dual-mode (XBox and PS3 in one stick), the EX-SE is a great call. The stick is sort of a love-it-hate-it thing, though, as some say it feels too loose.
It's good for modding, too, so if you ever want to change the stick (or anything else) it should be a pretty straightforward job. Considering this, and the price, I'd go with the EX-SE. Edit: by the way, if you have any intention of dual-moding, don't get the EX-SE. It won't work (or at least not readily). But if all you have is the 360, go for it!

As a matter of fact, I was intending to do a dual mod at some point, as I also have a PS3. I've heard stuff about hacking a Cthulu board into the case, and then using a switch to choose between the 360 and PS3 PCBs. So I guess I should go for the TE, as it would be a better investment.

Some guy who was torn between the exact sticks you're looking at that was thinking of dual-moding.

Not like there's much selection other than these two sticks... Get the EX-SE and just replace the buttons and stick with Sanwa parts. Its really easy.

I guess I'm used to the PS2 era where there were a couple hundred sticks available.

Edit: Another option I was considering was getting an MadCatz SE stick and modding it with all Sanwa parts. The SE costs about 50 bucks, and a Sanwa stick + Sanwa buttons comes in a tad under 50 as well. Plus, I could use the SE's original parts to do a cheapo PS3 stick as well.
