Problem printing from internet explorer 7

One of the computers here at the office is having a little problem. Internet Explorer 7 will not print the entire selection of text - it just prints whats visible on the monitor, maybe a little bit more.

This lady wanted to print an article for her records. She selected the text - it was around 4 pages of stuff, went to print - print selection, and it only printed a little past where the monitor stopped at.

If you went to print, and printed the entire webpage - it just printed the first page and the other 4 pages were blank. Well, not entirely blank. The website url was at the bottom, and the page number was at the top, but the content was blank.

When you print preview the webpage - its like the page is in a frame and only whats visible in the frame is being printed.

Couldn't you just copy/paste the content into a word document, or similar?

The lady could, but a couple of extra clicks is too much for her.

I've ran into issues like this before, but I need to know a little more information.

What is the model of printer is she trying to print too? and does this happen on more than one printer?

I know that some printer manufacturers sometimes have patches for issues like this, especially with HP's.

One thing I would try is to have her try to print from print preview.

When she goes to print, make sure the range is set to All and not Current Page or Selection.

Print preview does not show the entire article, just part of the first page. If there is more then 1 page to be printed out, print preview just shows part of the first page.

Anything past:

Push power button
Log in (most of the time they can not even remember their own password)

Is above and beyond what the person can do. If it goes past that, it usually results in fit throwing like a child.

People like this are such a support challenge. Frankly...they really ought to acknowledge that this is more complicated than their 12:00-flashing vcr and work to actively educate themselves if they're going to continue using a pc...

My Mom is nearing 70 and uses Firefox for most of her browsing....she also understands why I ask her to stick with Firefox wherever possible. She recently moved from XP to Windows 7 and has handled that pretty well...but then I've been working on educating her for years.
