Instead of paying a monthly fee you might be interested in a client you download for free and deposit cash when you want to spend it.
http://www.entropiauniverse.com/index.var Has a great and mature community http://www.entropiaforum.com/ But this mmorpg is all about beating the system and skilling skilling skilling. Every item has a cost, every item decays and have to be repaired. Noobs run around in their orange outfits trying to survive and get a ped (project entropia dollar) to buy their first gun to kill some little mob which doesnt give a crap back. But it is expensive if you want to get a good gear and go out hunting. |

I own Guild Wars Crim. I quit on it after making a healer and not being very good with teh spells. I guess I could reinstall it if you would like to have a run through with me now and again.

I keep tellin' everyone EVE online is fun but no one believes me D:
I really reccoment it. It's a great game to play for the long run. Some people say the game is boring or lonely, but if you can get into a good player run corporation or alliance, you can find a great community. As a matter of fact, the little corp I'm running is part of a rapidly growing alliance. We've claimed sovreignty in 4 systems (i.e. we literally own 4 solar systems). So if anyone wants to play they can join my corp and help us with our territorial skirmishes. There are about 800 members in our alliance right now, and 80 of them are online as I write this. [/recruitment] But seriously Eve is great because you don't have to invest all your free time to it. It's an RPG, but there's no level grind, as whatever skill you're training keeps training whether or not you're playing. The game is extreemly complex, but that's not bad for an MMO you'll be spending a long time playing, and I think anyone who's into TF won't be shy of a complex game. And even noobs can be usefull in a large fleet engagement. The client is free, and there's a 14 day free trial too (plus you can actually use in game money to pay for your subscription, in a kinda indirect way).

You can spend in game money (called ISK) on 'game time codes' which are basically just codes you put into the eve website to get 30 days free (or however much time). The trade is secure and run by CCP, the company that makes Eve. But the transaction isn't actually done through the game client.

EVE has always sounded like a pretty cool concept to me.
I did wow for two years. It's really pretty boring and unrewarding. Like Credge said, it's good if you're into pve; but its pvp is really unspectacular. I ended up always looking forward to pvp additions to the game (arena, eots etc) but they all ended up sucking hard. Essentially the game has enough pvp content to keep the pvp players interested but never enough to actually satisfy them. Again though, its pve is decent. |

Personally I think the PvP is well done. Then again my past experience with PvP was Kal Online.

True, true. The levels were hideously unbalanced, classes were hideously unbalanced, gameplay was too. The fucking raids were a joke.

Someone offered me 12 D&D books in exchange for accepting his 10-day trial offer and playing WoW with him.
I accepted. Played for a day and uninstalled.
