TF2 or FF? Which will come first?

So it has been about 6 weeks since we've had an update on FF and TF2 is supposedly coming in Oct. The question is which one will come first? I think the success for either is very dependent on being the first release. The first one to be put out there will be the one that survives. Sure FF could be better than TF2 or vice versa but sometimes it just doesn't matter. The first out of the gates win. Hopefully FF is the first one on the ground.

You are Wrong.

TF2 and FF are very differnt games, what draws a TF2 play may not be the same as a FF player and visa Versa.

TF2 is almost certainly going to be successful, its almost a given, regardless of when FF comes out because of Steam.

The Success of FF however will depend on how well advertised it is. I mean Look at Insurgensy, this is a mod promoted by steam and has become pretty popular. FF will not get the same treatment, but if the community digs in and gets the word out either by Sprays in other steam games, word of mouth, forums and even better if we can all work together to get a front page on something like DIGG FF is going to be well populated by both vets and newbs alike.

popularity wise, ff is no match for tf2.. it's gonna be huge
even most tfc-diehards like me and most ff'ers will play tf2
the only people that won't buy it, are the ones that don't like the cartoonish look and the ones that aren't interested in fortress games

not that it matters, ff will have a lot of players also, as it's gonna be an awesome mod with top quality and gameplay.. the remake of the best fps, tfc
tho releasing ff before tf2 will give ff a chance to have a bigger community than it will if it releases after tf2

It is not whether or not which one will survive, it is will FF survive. TF2 has a professional marketing team and the backing of a two extremely powerful companies (EA and Valve), so of course it will survive. FF needs to stick it's head out into the world just far enough before TF2 to ride the "wave of TF hype" but not to close to get pulled under by the undertowe (TF2).

TF2 will come out first and will be hugely popular because it's fresh and fun. FF will release in mid 08, still full of bugs. If they're lucky 25 people will download the game then uninstall it after a few hours because it's not fun, it's more or less a carbon copy of a game we've been playing since 1999, and no one plays it.

Is that 25 players to the current TFC bundle or 25 players in total? We could have a pretty competitive 1v1 thing going there, slowly breaking down to the elite one, reminds me of that jet li movie(I think its jet li)

Okay so lets get back to the interesting stuff we've already discussed a billion times cause it's more interesting than that month old dev journal.

I think ff will come out first, but only because they are scared to release it after.
