Servers/Vbulletin/SourceMod

How many server administrators out there use Vbulletin and SourceMod?

Sorry, I kinda assumed that SourceMod/VBulletin were a little more pervasive then they must be. SourceMod is a serverside administration tool used to kick/ban/etc people from game servers. Vbulletin is a forum software package (the one you're looking at right now).

Well, for some time the [o-t] has been using our custom server development tool called "ScuzTools". The original incarnation was written in AMX, ported to AMXModX, then (prior to SourceMod's existance) ported to Perl. After SourceMod came out we began to do some basic conversion of the tool back into a server-side plugin, keeping the VBulletin interface.

Anyway, I've received requests over the years to hand out copies of ScuzTools (or certain functions of it like the Tagging System), but it hasn't made a lot of sense because most people do not rent an entire server for their purposes nor do they use VBulletin. Many of the functions (like Tagging) would not work without all the pieces in place.

I've recently run into more people asking for it that do run VBulletin, and am gauging how many people would be interested in a public version.

Some of the features would include:
  • Full logging of all major administrative functions, with the ability to add new ones as you add properly formatted plugins.
  • Player information tracking.
  • Multi-Server support (Ban a player in one it applies all over)
  • Temp Bans hold true even if servers are rebooted.
  • Gag a person and they are gagged on all servers indefinately (currently ungagged when they rejoin a server)
  • Mute a person and they are gagged on all servers indefinately (currently unmuted when they rejoin a server)
  • Trouble Maker Tag Support.
  • Additional Steam-ID Banning (limited scope version)
  • System Functions can be enabled/disabled by server.

The tools would be useless without the web interface to administrate them though, and I have no interest in writing something other then the VBulletin pages. So... just interested to know how many groups actually use both tools, and how many groups would want the link we have that bring the two together.

Interesting But like us we have 3 servers right now 2 pub 1 private but don't rent a whole box so all three are on different machines. I'll be sure to watch this thread though.

They can all connect to one remote mySQL database, so they'd all get the same bans on all machines. Ban someone on your Chicago server and it would immediately take effect anywhere else in the world.

That would be a lot nicer than having to edit 4 or 5 different banneduser_id.txt files.

I'd love to see this released just in general.

Any thought towards releasing it under GPL or something, letting people make interfaces for other forum software so you don't have to?

I don't think I'd have a problem with people making another web interface for it.

I was one of the people who asked for it, and I am still interested in it.

People could put this to use for sure.

And hey, you could always put a link or two to [o-t] and FF in the installer...

Thanks, I know VBulletin, but I'm used to work with PHPbb since it's integrated in the CCMS (Clan Content Management System) I have for [DoP].

We mightbe interested in installing that. And PLEASE release under GPL, this would let LART posibly put some work into it
(Lart is the guy who made HLstatX work for TF2 for free.)

Are you guys going to use that for the clan, or do you use vbulletin for another system. I was checking our your site today and it appears to be some other type of bulletin board software.
