First off: I've never really played SC.
Why? I was a Red Alert kid.

Anyways, of the little I played online, I actually enjoyed it. But finding non-pros is nearly imposible.

This. Out of the 489513276 matches I've been in, I only have 2 wins under the 1v1 division, and 1 win under the 2v2 division.

Yeah, Blizzard gave most of their beta keys out to pros/players from Teamliquid.

I think part of the problem is just the number of people who have been playing SC for 10+ years. It makes it IMPOSSIBLE for a noob to get into the game.

Closed betas don't exactly attract a lot of brand new players. Especially for such a hugely competitive game.

I think they're passing it out to whomever they want. My brother-in-law got a key and he hasn't played SC since around 2000 probably.

Blizzard's aiming at about 10,000 people on Bnet at any given time. That's probably in the realm of 100,000 active players. It's impossible to have everyone in the beta be a pro at SC1.

However, skilled players in other RTSes (especially WC3) were given more consideration. They're trying to balance the upper tier first.

IDK, I played like 1 real game of WC3. Never played the campaign. Never played much SC1.

I got an invite, but others still have not. I have a feeling it might be because I'm running Windows 7... I made sure to update when I was running the RC and the Final. (As a student I got the final version of Win7 a month or two before the public release.)
