If anyone feels like playing Eve and bypassing a lot of the boring 'not getting blown up every day' stuff drop a line ingame to Platanov (me). I can pour small ammounts of money on you that seem like really big ammounts to a noob. It'll be great.
And the combat in Halo is far better than in almost any other game, just as long as you're not trying to play the fucker on an Xbox. Take, for example, HL2. The cobat in that game is far worse than in Halo (although that doesn't make HL2 a worse game).

I think what makes WoW so popular is the simplicity. It isn't very difficult at all to pick it up and start playing. It can be a button based or point and click style of gameplay. It's VERY open on how to play. The main attraction to it is, of course, the number of people playing. Games are ALWAYS more fun when you play with someone else. Like last night, I started questing with this one guy and it was a shit ton of fun. I didn't really have to do jack shit and leveled a couple times.
Sit back and heal people. Just sit back and heal. |

I also wish more people were like you. Ever since 'specs' were ever a factor in MMO's (starting specifically at DAoC... not specs, but this phenomenon) everyone who picked healing classes enjoyed doing things that weren't healing. Like smiting as a cleric. Or demanding to kite mobs in a dungeon as a druid.

But, then again, we're discussing this on a HL2 Mod forum.

No, there's a bit more tactic involved. Instead of run at each other firing until someone dies or you're close enough for a beatdown, there's a bit more to it than that.

such as? picking up something with the gravity gun and throwing instead of shooting? Halo also has some tactics too. sticky nades, nades, etc. besides, Halo and HL2 are fun.

I'm simply stating that your preference is not the same as your die-hard Halo fan, which is shown by participating in a HL2 mod forum.

So he can grind all day and burn himself out on MMOs? Happened to a friend of mine when he started Kal Online in '04. Burned himself out of MMOs for good.

I play Guild Wars. Love it.
Didn't like Wow because it felt like work that you had to pay for. Guild Wars lets me have the fun of an MMORPG without the grind, or feeling like I've paid too much for this to not be playing every free second. There was a Fortress Forever guild, but I left it in someone else's hands. Don't know if it's still alive. |

I think I'm the only one still in it.
'Course I don't play GW anymore.

In single player, trying to keep your marines alive and dealing with shielded elites adds a lot to the combat also. Really I'm mostly talking about single player when comparing HL2 to Halo. I like HL2 better, but the combat wasn't as good.

The marines are worthless, and dealing with elites/brutes is pretty much: "Use a weapon with a half-zoom and shoot them in the head." Dealing with Antlions, prioritizing what to kill first, actually having to worry about how much damage you've taken, all of that is a lot more fun to me than Halo's style. Not to mention I like having more than two guns. |

HL2 was instead of shooting people in the head, it was picking up a barral with grav gun, and then shoot them.
