Yes, exactly. It doesn't matter if the mods are still there on moddb, I'm just saying it sucks that filefront is down, + the filefront mirrors on moddb as well.
Also, fileshack usually sucks.

I think it's pretty obvious this is an April Fool's joke.

They get tons of people downloading things before April, and then they pull off a "great" April Fool's joke. It's a win-win for them.

It's also obvious because if they really were closing, why wouldn't they send off an email to their users telling them of such?

not really the brightest joke then, you'd figure they'd lose a lot of people that regularly use the site who are already using other sites

March 31st, 8:24 am central US time, and filefront is still online. The message about them closing is still visible.

I wonder if this was really a joke, or someone tied theirself to the server to save the site? Nobody saw anything on the news about a crazy IT tech with a shotgun guarding a server? Maybe some loyal fan that works at the filefront offices changed the security code to get into the building?

I can see some fresh out of college kid with a shotgun guarding the server. And the whole time crying about the "files". He is mumbling something like "its ok huney, I still love you." While the police and his girlfriend are outside the building. The girlfriend is screaming - "you move those files more then you love me? Thats it, its over." And the whole time the police are having to restrain her from going into the building to kick his butt.

When the stand off is finished, maybe the server will be shut down.

Thursday, 1:18 pm central US time and the forums are back up - http://forums.filefront.com/

They were never taken down. An index.html page had been put in the root directory, which over road the forums index.php file. So it "looked" like the forum was down, but not really.

I checked yesterday, and people had been posting in the forums all this time. If you knew a forum sections address you could still access it.

This means that either filefront was not making enough money. Or ziffdavis is having financial problems.

I am betting that ziffdavis is having problems. With the economy on a downhill slide, less people are buying magazines like PC Gamer.
