Apparently the dev teams of both have communicated/worked together a little, and really there's no hostility.

The TF2 team talked about FF in an interview and apparently they're on good ground.

Not sure why they would think that considering how every FF player will also be a Valve customer...

Oh.. never knew that.. Just kinda assumed they were in a bitter war in which they never mentioned the other and secretly despised them and their whole family. But that works too
