About the Closed Beta

Im just wondering why the FF team never opened up the closed beta to a open beta and let us play a couple of maps? Some time ago wasnt there a rumor about a beta but it turned out just to be for the closed beta? Dont flame me lol i was just wondering why the team moved away from the idea of a public? And how did people get into the closed?

The reasoning behind a closed beta has been discussed ad nauseum in many threads and in the dev journals.

The beta testers have been chosen based on whatever criteria the dev team has decided. That was, is, and continues to be their prerogative.

End of story.
