My download speed (KB/s) seems to be capped around ~115 or less/very low.
For everything I fucking use.
Download accelerator plus? I get around 115 KB/s, and it drops too. With Steam, it's around the same. Also when downloading small files, the number drops to around ~20 KB/s so it takes a good while to download a 1mb file for example. Youtube videos load at a good rate, but overall, the download speed doesn't seem to go above 120 KB/s for everything I use. I used to get in the 400s with download accelerator plus, and a little over 150 KB/s for firefox downloads, but now they not as high. Does it have to do something with utorrent? I tried re-installing my linksys adapter, but that didn't work. So what do you think I should try, other than contacting support. |

Comcast is pretty much the asshole of ISP's.

Comcast is getting MUCH better. They offer fast speeds with limited restriction... it's better then some of the other ISPs.
Try power-cycling your modem. It could be an issues with Comcast which could just take time. I know a few weeks back I had a slowdown for several hours where I was getting the speeds I used to get several years back. It randomly fixed itself after a while. Don't bother calling tech support unless it's been a few days. They are TOTAL morons... |

No but seriously, they were one of the first ISP's to start selling their user's information to the Government. Yay Patriot Act.

Go look on the Comcast forums (if they have any) and see what people average speed is.
Has this always been your max speed? If so, it is 1 of 3 things: -Faulty line -Router -Comcast If not like Mooga said, it'll be a temp problem at Comcast.

nah people are right...comcast is just shit. I get random times where I just completely loose internet connection and their speeds are all shared so even though they say your getting x amount of bandwidth...that's only in a perfect situation where none of your neighbors are online as well.
I suggest changing providers if you are able to.

I don't think there is anywhere where cox and comcast are available. Could be wrong...but I know that in CO they (cox) aren't around or I would be using them for sure.

That's the thing with telecom companies, they're so protected by regulation, that it's really rare that a single company doesn't have a monopoly on an area. It's funny, too, companies like Verizon and Comcast can keep good competition out, by claiming the cables they have in the ground (or on poles) is their property, and it essentially gives them a monopoly on being an ISP in a certain area.
Yay corporatism. But yea, I found that almost always smaller to midsize ISP provide better service. I use Optimum (which I think is a subsidiary of Comcast, but nonetheless, they are far better) and I haven't had noticeable internet downtime in probably 8 months or so. My results, while I'm in an FF server and streaming a radio station. Not too bad. Only pay $25/month and their customer service is exceptional. We've had Verizon in the past, it was absolutely terrible, so much downtime, the routers died every 6 months, and their field technicians were probably some of the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet.

Comcast isn't so bad.
(I pay for 22 Mbps) As for your sudden problem, well, what's changed? How's the squirrel situation in your area? We lost a line to squirrels once.

It was fixed.
Yeah, my mother said she upgrade something, and something about someone else was having a problem. Company of Heroes : Opposing Fronts --- Updating %2, 374KB/s, it drops and rises, but it's good. Used to be 115.. Last edited by Everything; 12-12-2009 at 04:33 PM. |

Idk I have comcast and my connection just randomly drops all the fucking time. Last night at 1:30am MST I join a pickup and after 5min of play my whole connection dropped for 5min., so I'm considering going with Qwest

plz don't go with qwest. That's like getting phone service with AT&T then switching to Cricket because they have a cheap unlimited plan. There's a reason why they're cheap. I used to work for both Cricket and Qwest tech support. You do not want their service.
My opinion on good providers for faster speeds: Verizion FIOS Cox Communications Local Provider(better than comcast still) Last edited by KubeDawg; 12-12-2009 at 09:36 PM. |

yeah I don't see how...I thought it might be that I was on WiFi for a while, but I'm connected directly to the modem now and it went down twice today apparently.
Also my cable is fine tho so idk I think it might be the box. I've been waiting to get caught up on the bill so I could call and bitch so mb it's time for that.
