Demoman Crosshairs
Which set of crosshairs seem to benefit the pipe/grenade launcher? I've been trying all different kinds of combinations but can't seem to find one I like. The hardest part is the pipes don't really look like they come from the model.

I don't think a crosshair will help. You just need to learn the feeling. Action is far too fast to be able to measure on your hud, it's all reflex :P

Well in TFC I always had the crosshairs that showed the path in which the pipe was going to fall. In FF it looks like my stomach is puking pipe bombs and sometimes the pipe never goes anywhere near my crosshair.

You don't need some special crosshairs for pipes (haha wtf), just natural understanding and prediction..

You say "haha wtf" in a way that I can only assume you either:
(a. rarely play demoman (b. rarely played demoman in TFC (c. rarely played demoman in TFC with the right crosshairs I was asking for what everyone else uses. If you don't know what you use or if you just don't play demo at all then remove yourself from this conversation. |

I play the class from time to time (attempting to hitting an appointment one pipe at a time. Not laying a carpet of pipes).
This is a post from Captain Obvious: The pipes come from the launcher... the crosshair just becomes pointer for looking... You judge where the pipe(s) go not the xhair... Just had a play around on FF then on TFC. gl with that crosshair and pl with regular. I'm not getting it myself, It makes me concentrate more on it than the pipe. With regular a pipe reaches just higher/above than the xhar then falls through it depending on where you're looking. Same for FF but it's a little shy to the right. Must be a preference thing : )

It takes some getting used to. But after awhile you'll find that you can combine your own prediction with the fall path in the crosshair almost on pure instinct without realizing it. The FF pipes just seem really awkward sometimes. With 1.1 increasing the blast radius of the pipes I may not need it but I still need some suggestions for what everyone else uses. I can't remember the numbers but right now I'm using something that looks like:
| V | Which does fine when the pipes move through the crosshair but a lot of times they miss it by a mile. |

A pipe launcher's crosshairs are not to show you where the pipe will go, but more of an indicator of height or range. It's something you need to get used to, through feel and practice. You don't need a crosshair. In Battlefield 2, the pipe launcher (forget the actual weapon name) worked the same way, it had range indicators, not a crosshair. Even then, it took me hours and hours to get it to be second nature, so I could hit a target at any range with it. I wasn't explicitly using the crosshairs/indicator at that point, I had learned through trial and error where the pipes would land. |

Look you aren't going to tell me anything I don't already know except for which crosshairs you use. I asked a simple question:
Which crosshairs do you use for demo? |

I use the same X-hairs for all of the classes.
( o ) is what I've got. The x-hairs, for demo, are a point of reference. |

Do you not know that FF has various options for crosshairs? Did I say I wanted someone to make me crosshairs? No. I wanted to know what other people use to see if I could improve a little better. So far the only person who has shown to have any sense at all is Credge. The rest of you want to debate with me about skill vs skilless or whether or not crosshairs are cheap or needed. I asked a simple question. Lets try this again: What crosshairs do you guys use for the PL and the GL? Thanks for your input Credge I appreciate it. |

The pipes vary in their angles that they exit from, don't they? That's why you cant lay them exactly where you want them, only in a general area.
Sobe, if you find some nice xhairs, tell me.. for now I just use the dot, knowing how far away from it they usually shoot. If you find something better, I'd be for it. |

One thing about the x-hairs is that they aren't centered. You can easily tell when playing sniper and using a small circular X-hair.

Sobe,
It seems like you are lagging, from what you are saying. Especially the part about the pipes coming from your character's stomach; mine seem to always come from the gun unless i am lagging. If you are lagging, reduce the resolution (helped me a lot). If not, then I don't know what to tell ya, other than I have some sick cross hairs: Primary--Shape 1__________Secondary--Shape 11 Size--4____________________Size--5 Red--255___________________Red--205 Green--0___________________Green--200 Blue--0_____________________Blue--107 Alpha--255__________________Alpha--255 (Which look like the TFC logo plus a red laser light in the middle. ) P.S. I was just playing around with the x-hairs, and you might want to try Shape 22 (Primary) and Shape 31 (Secondary). That or Shape 46 for the Secondary.
