I use the default setup, the only key I have ever changed is mouse2 when I bind it to jump.

Why on earth would anyone complicate keys that much. When most games use WASD or Arrow keys for directional movement. It just makes sense.
Jeez, you really do hate it when people do things different from how you do it, don't you?

if anyone cares:
(i keep mine simple, not like you bizarre bunch)

Arrows: froward , back , strafe left and right
Ctrl: Crouch
Left Shift: Jump
Keys next to enter ,above shift: Gren1 and Gren2
He can do what he wants....
but come on, that layout isn't normal ,very unusual.

I've heard of someone that uses a JOYSTICK and a MOUSE and a KEYBOARD all at the same time to play TFC. He is right handed, but use the mouse in his left hand to aim turn up/down and turn left/right. He uses the joystick in his right hand to run forward/back wards and to strafe left/right. And the keyboard for low priorities keys and for bind "say/team messages".

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that. But that extremley bizarre, as what's that point you only need a keyboard and mouse. Why complicate things so much. Anyway, Now read what i said in bold again.

I swear some people here are freaks. FrenchToast, Narf and MrBeefy being the head freaks.
I'm frightened.
Seriously though, you could come up with some even more unusual setups and they would be as good as any other as long as you get accustomed to it.
I wonder how people that play with the arrow keys can put up with such lack of available nearby keys ? It doesn't look to me there are as many options are WASD or TFGH.
I actually used the keypad for a longtime, because in the first FPSes you couldn't use the mouse so many games used the keypad. Even when the mouse became more and more popular I still used 8456. I eventually gave up for WASD though, it was so uncomfortable.

ERASDF is just as simple as the WSAD because the movement/jump/crouch keys are all really close so they be done together easily or out of impulse, instead of having to reach halfway across the keyboard for something.

There are enough keys by the arrow keys to play TFC, especially if you use del end and pgnd, and the numpad for low priority stuff.

I think all the people that don't use mouse1 for attack and mouse2 for jump are freaks.

I am having a serious issue with my keys. As a WASD user for both CS and TFC I am running into a consistancy problem. I want to use the same generic buttons for both so that I can switch back and forth depending on my mood. In CS I have developed the bad habit of using C as my crouch but my thumb stays on the space bar for crouch + jump. That means I can't strafe right when crouched! The shift key is walk which is also very important and really needs to be a pinky key, and CTRL is my mic which makes walking and using my mike a problem. I'm trying to shift around my mouse buttons for which I have a left right and thumb but they are fire, alt fire, and reload respectively. I don't like using the wheel as a click button because accidentally changing weapons is never good. The trick is that these buttons all have to fit into the structure of TFC which has way more grenades and crap clogging up my keyboard. I've been playin FPS since wolfenstein so none of this new age TFGH crap.

He actually means wheel down.

I think i would go mad if i used spacebar or right click for jumping. Hearing a relentless clicking on the mouse or a tapping of a spacebar for 30 minutes must be poo.

Clicking to jump would feel so strange. I use shift to jump as the space bar is so loud on my keyboard, when its repeatedly hit.

Infact, just gave it a few hits and so is mine actually. I just always thought it was.
Fair enough, lets not make this thread anymore boring than it already is.
