Map Start Camera before Spawn

Thought I'd ask here since I've asked elsewhere: Has anyone successfully used the "point_viewcontrol" to set the initial camera position for a newly loaded map before a player spawn? The tutorials I've read are simplistic, vague, and obviously flawed since I couldn't get it to work!

Helps always appreciated, Thanks!

I usually use info_player_start, but FF uses something different anyways.

If it's not out of general interest, but only to use in an FF map, i'd say don't bother with it.

The fancy approach to what the player sees when connecting, is that he's taken on a flythrough through the map. This is achieved with path_mapguide entities (the first one being called "overview"), and doesnt use any other entities. You can already implement those to gain time instead of wasting time with other entities

Wow, that sounds awesome. This happens while connecting? Like while retrieving server info, sending client info, etc.?

Nope, it happens before you select a team.

I used to use info_player_start as well until HL2 where I'm told to use point_viewcontrol - but I couldn't get these to work. Now I'm told to use path_mapguide which doesn't even exist! Which leads me to my next question: will the mapping community receive the Fortress Forever entity bundle prior to release so that the maps can be ready by release?
