Game Development
I have been a Natural Selection fan for a few years. I knew Charlie Cleveland - AKA Flayra - had busted his ass for a long time in an effort to continuously improve the game. I stumbled across his blog today. It gives some interesting insight into what he has done to develop his company, perfect his game and bring NS to a commercial market. He also has a lot of information about how others can make mods or get into the industry.
Overall, it's a pretty cool read and really makes you appreciate what ANYONE in game development goes through. Once again.... hats off to the FF team and any developers out there. http://www.charliecleveland.com/ Oh, for those who have never seen NS gameplay: http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns/down...railer_low.mov NS site is: http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns/ |

Yeah Flayra is definitely a role model to many mod developers. Very much respect what he done.
Played NS quite a bit in the early days, 1.00 to 1.04 was a hell a lota fun and goes to show what true originality can do for a mod. Do you have a link to his blog article, I would be interested in reading that. |

I left out the key part: http://www.charliecleveland.com/ is his blog. NS site is: http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns/ But it is only a small part of what it used to be. Due to a couple of problems in the past, they are rebuilding the site and the forums to much more hack resistent. What impresses me the most is just how nonstop they have been with releases. As a constelation member ($20 donation) I was able to be part of the beta testing for (then) upcoming releases. They might have 12 releases tweaking a debugging to get the game just where they want it. Also, they are ALL about game balance and experiment with game play ajustments all the time. |

Just checked the link, it worked for me.
NS:S and NS2 are both in the works. I read somewhere that NS2 is going to be on its own engine and will be a large AAA commercial release. That should be a big inspiration to the "little guys" in the world who are working on thier own mods and careers. I would LOVE for somebody to take the new transparent NS "heal me" sprite and adapt it to TFC. *** HINT HINT *** |

So what exactly is the point of Trackback? To get links to "free" porn?
