custom sounds?
Is there a point in customizing sounds, like footsteps and maybe removing certain sounds? I've not edited anything much except some sg skin that made it easier to spot, but what about sounds. For one, is it legal? Is it lame?
If anyone uses custom sounds, what are the advantages? I guess it's mainly to know when some's aproaching if you're def. |

it is an hot topic on euro ff community nowadays,according to players who fix their sounds it works but attention please you can be exposed to cheater accuses :P

The advantages depend on how much you lame it up. If you just have a slightly louder jump sound, I don't think it's a big deal. The jump is almost inaudible now and fairly annoying.

some guys told that they reduced the explosion sounds and therefore, they can easily hear the other sounds in game...

If you deliberately remove explosion sounds completely so you can hear everything around you, expect to be accused of cheats and if and when that happens dont act like a dickhead and take it on the chin since you have deliberately gone out of your way to give yourself an advantage. I think thats basically the lesson to learn . Editing sounds can really give a huge advantage, you dont really need a wall hack if you edit them right. You could essentially remove most or all of the sounds bar a jump sound for tracking anyone bunny hopping.
However i strongly recommend that the FF dev team change all explosion sounds since thats all you can hear when playing FF. It gave me headaches, yeah i know 'turn the sound down' even with a low sound all you hear is bang bang bang all game. I personally replaced explosions with the warsow explosion sound. NO headaches since . I think the DEV team should also do that officially. I can UL the warsow sound i use for anyone any time (and have). |

You shouldn't do that ! The Warsow sounds (and all other media) are under a proprietary license, so you're not allowed to freely reuse them. You can review the license in detail in warsow\docs\license.txt. Yes, I know the game is free to download but please take the original authors into consideration.

Sure, I mean thats the same thing, if anything worse and ILLEGAL OMG because they're commercial games. While we all know how effective media licenses really are I thought I would bring it up because a lot of people are mistaken and think Warsow as a whole is released under GNU GPL

Dexter stop being butthurt about other people doing the same thing that I'm doing but with less files.
Also for anyone wondering, I use the default jumping sound. I use the default sounds for everything. Which means that those download links are untested, but I still know for sure (99%) that they work.
