Some praise for FF

After playing TF2 today, I am so thankful that the community, server owners and devs here work together.

In TF2, it's hard as fuck to find a vanilla server that isn't 24/7 2fort or payload maps or doesn't have godawful custom maps. IMO, the server owners have ruined the game by dividing it up so much that you can't play the game without some bullshit mods like "LO-GRAV!!!" or "INSTA-RESPAWN!" being on almost every server. It doesn't help that TF2 server owners are using fake amounts of players to attract people to their empty servers.

With FF, there are almost no servers that run gameplay-changing mods and most of the bad custom maps get weeded out quickly. I'm not a big fan of Old-Timer's FF server, but I'd rather go there any day over awful TF2 servers like "BIG STEVE'S OWNAGE PALACE!|FAST RESPAWN|LO GRAV|HL-STATSX!".

I know FF is small, but goddamnit at least I can play a vanilla game without having to look through a half-hour's worth of shitty servers. Thanks everyone.

FF made it a goal early to minimize segmentation of the community. Glad to hear it appears to be at least somewhat achieved.

We run a vanilla regular respawn no extra crap TF2 server too.

This is one of the bigger reasons why I can't be bothered to play TF2 anymore. All I want is a vanilla server and it's nearly impossible to find one.

The other is that I'm slowly finding that my tolerance for stupid people is slowly going down as time passes... and any time I have to rely on others in order to succeed (most team based games) I just don't play. This is especially true of games where healers are required. TF2 and most MMO's fall under this... and I just can't seem to play them any more.

these guys have 4 servers, two have crits, those being Server #1 (designated the noob server) and NOMNOMNOM (entirely for shits 'n giggles, no serious play at all). Server #2 is the main server, with nocrits and a couple of custom maps (all of them pretty damn good) and Server 3, which currently runs arena maps.

The reason people run a bunch of shitty add-on crap for TF2 is because, sadly, the game does not stand out on its own unless under rare circumstances.
