Without the need to stay ahead of your competition, there will be little reason for them to advance as fast as they are now. Just look at how slow Microsoft is advancing.

Damn.......
Nature abhors a vacuum...a new competitor would spring up if they all merged.

Depending on hold old and how big you are you might consider the following links

nvidia and ati merging would probably be the worst thing ever.

no competition = higher prices and slow development... and development is slow enough as it is.

They have the tech to do much greater things than what is on the market today but they want you to buy every fucking small upgrade they make. One giant leap is no good for business. I hate that shit.

I wonder if one day (maybe in like 2000 years) the humanity will work togheter in the name of progress instead of wasting time and resources like we do now.

The best example of that bullshit is in the medical department. We're wasting so many efforts cause people don't wanna work as a whole. They want their own little success story and they won't share important information or discoveries with other people. That's sick. We're all weak.

I'd crucify their pet and hang him on their garage.

Not really, I'd use a stuffed animal, no need to hurt an innocent pet. But they'd also know better in the first place, they would have invited me just to get more beer.
