Im currently helping work on the lua for this map, and I know that the lua is likely gonna hold it back.

Does anyone know how to add sounds in the lua? The closest information I can find on the forums is in this thread.

Can you be more specific than 'add sounds'?

ff_icefire
ff_glacial
ff_frostfire
ff_iceburn
ff_Thermafrost (permafrost, but hot. geddit??)

Although meltdown is good, considering that the melting implies heat and ice. Right? Right?? This map looks most excellent.

Basically, elchupacabra wants a custom sound played on flag cap.

I'll try and flag someone down and get them to give you a response, I haven't spent very much time looking through the lua, and Hammer isn't really my thing.

<DrEvilOB> u need a res file for clients to download the sounds, a mapname_game_sounds.txt to define them, and to precache them in the lua

If that's any help

Hopefully I didn't forget to include any stuff. lua is not fully working properly as of now and there's a few more small things I need to add.
Screenshots of any problems would be very helpful.

Downloaded it. Tried it out. Very impressive! A few (very minor) critiques though...

1) Why does the blue flag area have embers coming out of the grates? It just seems out of place. Perhaps you could replace it with snow falling from a hole in the ceiling or something?

2) I noticed that the scout's caltrops don't work properly if they land on the grated floor (where you can see the fire/ice). What winds up happening is that they become completely useless as you can walk right over them without any risk of injury (I presume there's an invisible brush there?) Very minor, really.

Other than that, a beautiful, well made map with lots of "hidden" potential if you catch my drift

Yeah I was thinking of changing that, falling snow would make much more sense lol.

Ah I see what happened there, yes the grates are all playerclipped, I'll look into it.

Do clip textured brushes not block grenades? Grenades just seem to go through the clip brushes that are placed over my grates. Am I missing something?

Yeah, just use a nodraw block instead and you're good to go.

Only problem I could possible see it that bodies would look a bit strange just floating over the grates

Actually, why not just let people walk ON the grates? It shouldn't be that steep that it would prevent players from moving normally. So essentially, you could just lower the clip/nodraw brushes (if you're going to do this, use nodraw as I think the clip brush will make bodies fall through).

I wanted to make sure that the sunken grates didn't mess up anyones bunnyhopping or grenades or anything.

Anyone got anymore comments about the map itself?

Very nice so far. Icy theme for blue base is a great idea in my opinion.
