Map Series

Recently, about one month ago actually, I started to plan a group of maps all based upon the same theme. The basic planning - Structure, Texture, Lighting and Environment all took about two weeks until I found something I was happy with.

Anyway, 1 week ago I started the first map (Name Unknow), the basic structure is very almost complete with some detail done. The texturing for this map is, how can I describe it? Shit. Reason for this is I dont like the current HL2 textures so, if I can be arsed, I will make my own textures or wait for more custom textures to be released. The style of map one is CTF quite large but not to open with some alternate routes thrown in to add some variety.

Today, I started work on the second map (Although Working On Map One At The Same Time). As I have only started the second map today there isn't much done, I have been working and fine tuning the Light Environment to get the colours right etc. The style of map two is... Attack vS. Defence, a.k.a Spam Style (Dustbowl).

As with the third (There May Be A Forth One Too), I am still planning these on paper. Three might be a Flagrun-Style map and Four (If I Make A Fourth) might be a concmap or something else.

In each of the maps, I plan on making each of the maps visible in the other maps. Like they are all buildings in a large complex. So if you were to look out of the window, you could see part (Only A Little) of map two and three, and the same with map two, only you would see map one and map three.

No pictures as of yet.

I am aware of this . I wasn't actually going to post until I had more of the map complete so I had some average screenshots. Ah well, enough of the excuses, I should have some screenshots up soon.

Currently, as I have no time what so ever to try and complete this series, I have started work on a single map with a similar theme. I started this about an hour ago.

This time I have a screenshot.

As usual, with something started not so long ago, the texturing is poor (Textured it too make it look like a map. Not Orange and Grey ). And some of the architecture needs some work.

Little Update -

Not much done to the map itself, although I started work on the battlements not so long ago (Doesn't look too good ). Mainly I just took some screenshots from different angles at the same location of Screenshot One.

Screenshot One - Old.

View from the stairs looking to entrance. The two pathways in the center leading left and right are alternate routes...

Screenshot Two - Battlements/Entrance

Dont want to reveal to much of it as of yet because it looks quite crap. But then again, so does the rest of the map.

Screenshot Three - Main Hall (Just entered the entrance...)

Basically the same as the first, but from the opposite side.

Still, the textures, in some areas for sure have become quite repetitive so I plan on making some of my, although they will look similar, it will break up the noticable pattern.

Hope you approve .

I like the scale. It's wide, large, and enclosed which looks to be working out well.
