How do you like your RSS?

RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated digital content, such as blogs, news feeds or podcasts.

Users of RSS content use programs called feed 'readers' or 'aggregators': the user 'subscribes' to a feed by supplying to their reader a link to the feed; the reader can then check the user's subscribed feeds to see if any of those feeds have new content since the last time it checked, and if so, retrieve that content and present it to the user.

The initials "RSS" are variously used to refer to the following standards:

* Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0)
* Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91, RSS 1.0)
* RDF Site Summary (RSS 0.9 and 1.0)

RSS formats are specified in XML (a generic specification for data formats). RSS delivers its information as an XML file called an "RSS feed", "webfeed", "RSS stream", or "RSS channel"

------

so in short, do you use it? If so, how do *you* use it? Personally ive never used it. Im told its suppose to somehow let you know when a page is updated. This is one of those things that I never bothered with. Ask me something about Exchange server and I'll help ya, but sometimes things simply go "un-noticed.

RSS is awesome for sites that you dont want to visit just to see if there's any new content on it and you can do them all at once.
Mostly for news headlines, podcast like things, and automatically downloading torrents (CTRL+R in µtorrent). Saves a lot of time.
I like mine via firefox live bookmarks because I only care about the headlines and not so much the extra info from the feed.

The only RSS I'd use is FF one.
But they only update 3 time a year, so that's easy to cover up with some visits to the site (:

I'm a little late to this thread but I was kind of surprised that the rss feed for FF isn't being used by many people. I use it on my google ig homepage as well as the rss for Tom's Hardware and Newegg Daily Deals. Its a simple solution for those that don't want to download any feed readers and what not.

Ive got WizzRSS (i think its called that, i only have it at work). Its a little sidebar and just informs me when theres new content on some of the sites i like to keep track on (typically web development and photoblogs).

its really useful, i dont really have to bother looking for new content, it just comes to me
