That said let's put Gabe to work on the DRM nonsense...

omgz duck hunt gif *steals*

Funny, but wasn't this posted before?

And there is another question: how will Vista like Steam? Based on with the other game developer said, I suspect there will be issues...

The link to the article/blog I posted was dated 1-15-2007. I guess it's possible it was posted from another source but I did not recall seeing it in the last couple of days.

I had no intention of buying a PS3 anytime soon and this does nothing but affirm my decision to stay away from it.

Let me repeat what I asked earlier: what will Vista mean for Steam and similar services? MS seems to be planning their own download service or something, and Steam seems like it would cause Vista to freak out from what I've read.

I believe I read somewhere that Valve had looked at developing for it and made the decision not to based on problems they saw with the system.

As far as Steam running on Vista there are numerous blogs out there reciting that it does in fact work. Keep in mind I think virtually all of those blog impressions are based on RC's and not the Final version. I can't imagine that they will spike the ability of Steam to function in the released version...now SP1 might be a completely new story...

I am assuming the pre-release versions of Vista were a little more 'forgiving' in terms of hardware compatibility etc. than what the later info we read suggests. Otherwise it would be hard to get a system running properly on it I would think..?

Think back to the release of XP. They had some glaring security issues that were "addressed" in the weeks after release. It was, however, when SP1 and SP2 released that you saw things break. My guess is that we'll see a similar pattern with this.

Afaik Valve's plan is/was to port the complete HL2 saga, Portal and TF2 to PS3 (and Xbox 360), but after this recent statement...

Edit: Here we go:

Quote:
The Orange Box is available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and includes Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episodes One and Two, Portal and Team Fortress. It retails for a modest $59.99.

Since Bill and Gabe are buddies... I doubt steam on vista will be a problem.

Ep1 didn't seem worth the money, so I'm waiting to see if I can get a deal on it if I get it with Ep2's package.
