early education of guilt

I think we spend too much focus on american indians and slavery in gradeschool.

I realize now that I spent more time learning about harriet tubman than thomas jefferson, and that upsets me. I learned little about american government but at least I know all about wigwams

Did everyone else learn about these things as much as my school did? Why is that, did leadership on education boards go haywire with political correctness at some point or what
