wrap portals
can the dev team create wrap portals? that whould be quite nice.
if you don't know what wrap portals are, wrap portals are portals like in valve's upcoming game portals, you can see through it to the other side, and you can shoot through it. but it doesn't have to be a decal like in portals, but a brush based entity or maybe face based, so you can like assign a face to it like cubemap. so this will enable weird things like being able to always take the right hallway without turning in circles. i don't know why valve didn't make this, becouse its really, really usefull in some cases |

You could have a base entirely surrounding a yard, and there's a freestanding doorway in the middle you can go through which leads to an identical enemy team's yard. Or like a dughnut shaped hallway, where if you run around it once, the entrance is gone, and if you run around it twice the entrance leads somewhere else.
Wasn't there a thread like this somewhere else? Anyway I'd guess it'd be hard to implement, but something like this would be so damn cool...

It'd be cool but would it make good gameplay, it ultimately comes down to making the mod enjoyable to play. I like Portals portals though.

these portals are static, and make the possibility to make long and small levels, just put 3 short parts afther eachother and make it a long one, it's more of a tool for a mapper than something cool for the players, since they won't notice it, unless they have a good feeling of space(you cant walk around the corner and see a long hall that was actually crossing the room where you came from. )

If implemented correctly, you could even do lighting across these portals.

actually, seamless teleportation refers to how the portals in portal and prey work
As compared to how the portal with the same effect works in the second installation of poke626, where it looks seamless, but its the same teleport effect as hl used (jumps, resets your look location, etc) |

It'd be awesome if you could get entities to move through the portals, like if a door opens, it gets transported the same way you do.
Actually, you can kinda do the thing with teleporting players seamlessly with an info_landmark.
