most mods just have small patches to upgrade your pre-existing install and I know for a week or so after the release not all servers will be upgraded and that's kinda annoying (like pvk2v1.1 when it was released)
actually it would take about .02 seconds for the FF team to make an auto-patcher if someone knows how to program in c/c++ whatever, and those are just nice and professional but I wouldnt recommend they do that, mainly cuz I want them to do less work than whats required to pump out the mod |

We're working on an autoupdate function that will support mirroring and load balancing, but no eta on that or if it'll be up for the first updates we have to roll out after release.

It'd be cool if you guys got the web browser control from the MOTD window and put it into a new window (Like the console window or the options window) on the main menu that loads up an update news page, you could pass the current game version as a parameter in the URL and if a new version is out inform the user with BIG COLORED TEXT on the page :P
