So, post-election discussion!

So FF'ers, what are you thoughts after the Presidential election? I suppose we can talk about weed as well if you want.

GO RON PAUL! I mean, uhhh.... That's right, this country is controlled by sophism. They give you 2 cookie cutter candidates, make one look really stupid (Romney) so people will see his political gaffs every time he speaks. That way, they bank on Obama winning the election again to continue down the destructive path we've been on for decades now. The lesser of two evils continues.

I figured with how bad Bush ran things when he was in office people would have awoken to this bullshit, but instead it just galvanized the whole process. 2 party politics is hopefully becoming a thing of the past, but even this year it's evident that we are in no better position than in 2008 or 2004 or 2000 or even before that. In fact, we are WORSE off now that Obama has been re-elected.

Not only has Obama continued the unconstitutional Patriot Act Bush signed into law, but he's infringed on more of our freedoms including our 1st, 4th, 5th and 10th Amendments.

Can't peacefully assemble with secret service around, which means you can't protest while near the President. Illegal wiretapping/surveillance. No more due process with the NDAA bill, which means Obama can and HAS already killed an American citizen without due process.

It's unfortunate because 4 more years means the destruction of more freedoms. With all these drones soon to be flying our skies and with the DHS recent purchase of 1.2 TRILLION rounds of ammunition, it makes me question the intentions of our Federal Government even more.

Who runs the Federal Reserve? Why are they not held accountable by the Federal Government? Why are we paying a direct, unapportioned income tax and if it IS apportioned, why the hell can't we see where our money goes? Why? I'll tell you why. They want people to be in the dark about this while they continue to print money that dilutes our dollar to fund unwarranted and stupid wars in the middle east.

Our government is so hellbent on increasing its power that it will blindly do anything to increase that power. The more we get from the government, the more control they have over what they give us.

Aren't we tired of this non-choice 2 party system yet?

I'll be happy when there isn't a Government. Guess that's all I can really say about the election.

The real problem with elections is you have borderline retarded people that are completely clueless to government and politics voting.

You should have to pass a general knowledge test to be allowed to vote.

Also, vote libertarian in 2016!

A compulsive liar who feeds off the carcasses of dying companies lost to Barrack Obama. Nothing surprising - it played out as expected.

I wish....but the problem is that the often unspoken self-reliance piece of libertarian philosophy will not sell well for the majority of those cattle to which you refer.

As an interesting side note...my son, at 16, was a very outspoken advocate for Ron Paul and he was frequently annoyed when I expressed that I don't see how someone like Ron Paul gets elected in todays culture war.

This election just reinforces the fact that most of the US is totally stupid. It doesn't matter how big a fuckup a politician is. The public and will vote for who is "cool" and/or popular based off smiles, talk shows, Hollywood, and the mainstream media. Next time we might was well just set up the Presidential Pageant to operate as a series of rounds on reality TV shows:

2 Weeks of Celebrity Rehab
2 Weeks of DTWS
2 Weeks of Jersey Shore
...etc.

This would at least openly display how shallow the US voters really are.

Hah!

Debates and campaigns definitely aren't the way they used to be back around 30-40 years ago. It's all about flash over substance to appease to those with no clue about any of the candidates.

Michael Bay-inspired campaign ad? I'M SOLD!

If you think the US is bad, you should live in a place like Mexico or Italy, where television is a central part of nearly everyone's lives. Hell, even the UK is far worse than American when it comes to tv and celebrity-obsessed culture. American culture is so much more diverse than any other country out there, outliers and sub-cultures are far more prevalent here than anywhere in the world. I know it's easy to bust on America (We're the only country that happily exports our stupidity for others to digest) and I'm not a nationalist, not even close, but credit should be given where credit is due. We're an incredibly unique country, and our politics reflect that.

I'm really liking Gary Johnson, mainly because of his plan on Immigration. http://www.garyjohnson2012.com/issues/immigration ; Hopefully he'll rerun and kick ass again. He did get a 1,225,000 or so votes. It may not seem like a lot of votes, but it is for a libertarian.

But, Ron Paul's son wants to run as well.

Neither can replace Ron Paul, but I'd rather see Gary or Rand in office than another 4 years of the same old shit.

Only problem I have Rand is his stance on Abortion, as I fully support it.

So of all the issues one can consider and for which politicians can take a position does abortion trump everything else for you?

I'm against the idea of it, but I'm not for the government enforcing it.

So when I say I'm pro CHOICE, know that I mean that I think men and women make the CHOICE to risk getting pregnant by having unprotected sex in the first place. I'd muuuch rather throw away a rubber than a dead fetus. And of course there are cases like with rape and where the mother's life might be at risk from complications during pregnancy where I think it should be up to the woman to make that decision up to a certain point in the pregnancy.

But if it was consensual, then haven't the man and woman already made a choice by having sex in the first place? Yes, I know. Condoms break, birth control isn't full proof, but if they have to have sex sooo badly that they are willing to risk it even with contraceptives, they should both be prepared. Can't ever stop people from fucking each other, but you can minimize the risks.

And if it becomes unsure as to whether the contraception worked or not, there's always a clinic in most cities and towns that have something like the Plan B pill. While it may cost money to get in some areas, $35 for a pill ain't shit compared to the $200k it costs to raise a child. Men and women alike need to be smarter about the way they have sex. Skin on skin may feel fantastic, but you gotta know what gamble you are playing beforehand.

Government shouldn't have a single say in it, as it's not their body at all. If they want to stop paying for it with tax payer's money, I am fine with that.

Sounds reasonable to me. I know a number of people for whom this was the sole issue that makes of breaks a candidate for them...on both sides. Frankly I think we have far bigger issues over which to make a stand and those people that put abortion as a deal breaker frustrate me.
