I've had my life saved once by a seatbelt (driving recklessly, hit a ditch, rolled three times). This video should be required viewing for driver's ed students.

I would at least verbally slap that employee, if not physically. The friend was stupid, and someone died, he deserves the jail time he gets. Depending on what the guy was actually being pulled over for, he could get as little as a warning, and the most would've probably just been a fine.

As it was told to me he would have lost his job as his job requires him to have a clean driving record. Of course, he could have also talked the cop out of points on his license which in this state they do so long as you aren't and asshole.

That said, even if he couldn't the person he killed also lost a job, and a mother, and a father and any other family/friends they had, who all lost the same. I don't feel for this kid I think he got lucky. They charged him with manslaughter.
